Like if you don’t know something just say something. Sure people will be assholes or have very limited time and leave. But there are more than enough people willing to teach you.
It is aggravating and obvious if you don’t know how to do something and expect people to carry you.

2 RepliesGot booted in Crotas end, never touched lfg again. I tried in game guided help for nightfall. The minute I got killed one of the teammate who suppose to help me Tbagged me instead. Well screw the time out, oath breaker whatever they call it I left the match.

We actually had a guy that didn’t know how to do taniks in DSC so we taught him and we did it on our second try.

5 RepliesHad a dude last week who didn’t know anything about vog I knew so I explained what we have to do when we died so he would know but luckily for him things played out well. Conflux is just ad clear. Oracles someone said we need someone on this oracle,so he went over. Templar I explained the no Oracle strat because a lot of people don’t use it apparently. Gorgons after getting chest I showed them the cheese. Gate keeper he went on ad clear. Atheon dude just sat there, I did a quick run down but I think he Maybe opened a portal at some point I know if he got teleported on oracles he just stood there cause I watched him hold his sun shot and look around. Literally no one knew that this one dude had no idea And what’s sad is he did better then most people I’ve done the raid with, dude had no deaths except when we all died.

👍🏼👍🏼 Speak up at the beginning. Even before you load into a raid. Full disclosure. This sets up 2 things 1. Team knows you don’t know and will help you throughout the raid 2. You get the opportunity to learn and the rest of the team knows and can give support. Nothing is more frustrating than someone causing wipes because the don’t know what they’re doing. Ran VOG last night and kid keeps wiping at atheon because he couldn’t kill oracles. Reason being is he had his ad clearing (overload hand cannon and shotty). Never had a completion and never spoke up. If they kick you. They weren’t the team you wanted to run with anyways.

30 RepliesGone are the days when asking questions in a Raid would lead to reasonable discussions on mechanics.
-
Yeah, alot of people just expect to be carried or are afraid to say they aren't sure what to do. I'm not a big raider, but on the weeks I would run groups through kings fall and I would ask if anyone had questions, etc. and everyone would be afraid to say anything, but one time I could hear someone in the background watching a video on how to do the encounter. Sometimes I'm trying to get through stuff as quickly as possible and wouldn't want to spend time explaining and failing.... Other times I would just be chilling with friends and didn't mind taking time to explain things. We would just play while we were having fun and didn't mind explaining things I never really cared how far we got.

7 RepliesEdited by Mareep: 6/17/2021 10:04:06 AMYeah tbh I'm kinda afraid of the backlash I'll get from strangers if I try to get my normally non-raiding buddy into raids Update: Got my buddy through his first vog. Well most of it, but he cleared it.

1 ReplyEdited by MajorOpossum993: 6/16/2021 8:49:45 PMWe literally had a guy rage quit last night because me and a few buddies were showing another guy how to VoG. He joined our lfg which said we were teaching we got to Templar and we were explaining the mechanics and he just straight up went ballistic called us all wankers and left.
-
I'll tell anyone this. If you don't know what to do, please speak up. I'm not trying to reach Gatekeeper and when we pass you the shield you freeze up.
-
Fully agree, if you speak up in the beginning then it’s all good but don’t remain silent the entire time confused I’d want you to understand how the raid works so the next time you run it you have some understanding

5 RepliesDue to my auditory processing disorder and A.D.D I tend to space l tend to space out a lot. Its why I dint watch YouTube videos. Plus, my clan tends to simplify things rather than datto's maps and bizzare way of teaching.
-
Whenever I do a raid with people I always make sure they are the ones doing the hardest parts so no one has to deal with people who have clears but have no clue what theyre doing.
-
17 RepliesPeople are too toxic. If I dont know the raid in by the first nanosecond of release, im screwed forever. Asking a question is an easy way to get kicked.
-
That's the one problem in this game for me, trying to fine people willing to teach.
-
It's simple, whn I asking if you have experience, don't lie. If you don't, I'm usually fine to explain (unless I'm on a time crunch) if you just flat out lie to me, it's the boot
-
Watch a YouTube tutorial, learn how to do it. When you get to a certain spot in said raid say hey we do it this way how do you guys do it, they’ll teach you their way instead. Boom profit. I know how to do atheon 4 different ways now because of this strat just join a KWTD after you watch the vid on how to do it and follow my steps nobody will even know 🤷🏽♂️
-
The worst people in raids are those who dont know and either remain silent hoping they can BS their way through the encounter or those who pretend they know what to do, but keep messing up. Cant tell you how many raid groups I've seen fall apart due to people like these who refuse to ask for an explanation.
-
2 RepliesI say this every time I lfg. If you need help just say something. For the love of god don’t stay silent. It’s ok if we mess up, it’s ok if I have to teach you, it’s just a game. But if you don’t tell me and we wipe because you don’t know what you’re doing, I’m going to boot you. Because that’s a dick move.

Ive heard multiple horror stories on lfg of this happening

1 ReplyI need a Sherpa team to run me Through VoG. Anyone?
-
This is why I make my own LFG Posts and out Chill in the title. I have no issue teaching/helping. I don't even care if some people join just for the rewards. As long as they revive me.

Edited by Hexi: 6/16/2021 1:12:43 AMHere the deal, this is for everyone hesitant to ask if they don't know something. If you ask, the chances of you getting kicked or people mocking you is there. If you say nothing, the raid will wipe and you WILL be kicked. The absolute last thing a raid leader wants to hear is "I didn't know". That means that not only were you not prepared, you are also a coward for not asking. I'd rather spend 10 minutes explaining something than an hour wiping on something. And always, ALWAYS let everyone know that you are new. There is nothing shameful about it, even on content that isn't hard, there might be some mechanic that you just have to know about.

Edited by I6v6I: 6/16/2021 12:40:26 AMI hate people who try to sneak into "KWTD" or clear requirement posts. That's exactly how you piss everyone off and don't learn anything and encounter toxicity. If you want to learn the raid, either make your own post or join a post that's accepting anyone, and then TELL people what you're unsure about so they can take 5 seconds to explain it to you instead of causing the team to wipe over and over again until everyone leaves.
-
Edited by whateverman7: 6/16/2021 12:30:54 AMSo true, all people gotta do is speak up. I've found it's easier to just explain something instead of looking for another group. Side note: the funniest be if you join a lfg that posted 'kwtd', but when you get in there, the person that created the lfg doesn't kwtd lol.

Edited by Corrick II: 6/15/2021 11:32:52 PMAsking for help is ok if you’re in a group that specifically stated it is willing to teach or just wants a casual run. It is not ok to tell everyone you don’t know what you’re doing in a raid group specifically formed under the caveat that everyone knows what they are doing. Because let’s face it, that’s what you’re doing when you ask for help. That means you didn’t read the instructions and shouldn’t be surprised if they kick you. Sure, take a chance and ask for help in such a group, if they surprise you by being willing to help then great, but just know what you’re getting into. I would love to live in a world where everyone was patient and willing to help anyone who needed it under any circumstances, and if you’re in a group that is open to teaching then please, yes, absolutely ask for help. Simply put, if you join a raid group, make sure you understand the needs, requirements and consequences of that group.

100% this. Soooo many people join up and say nothing and just hope they can sneak through the raid without really knowing what's going on and that's Hella annoying. But what's not annoying is if you're honest and say you need a quick explanation to the encounter, if you tell us you're still learning we'll help you learn and the raid will get done so much faster than if we don't know that you need some teaching
