Bungie. Come on. Who is designing warlock armor? This is absurd. Warlock armor has looked terrible for years now. Sure there are some sets that look alright, but on the whole it's very disappointing.
Reference picture linked. This is not my monster killing machine. Who vets these designs, who actually says, "Wow, these look real good, the players are going to LOVE this"?
Bungie, these are not cool. They are not badass. I legitimately don't want to play my favorite class - and I don't - because of armor looking like this, and there's too much of it. Realistically, it's just not acceptable. Over so many seasons this is consistently happening. How did we go from Crota raid armor to this??
You expect us to pay the cost of a full priced game and on top of that pay for seasonal passes, then microtransactions, and THIS is the kind of concepts you came up with?
I'm a huge fan and supporter, but this just has got to stop.

27 RepliesEveryone loves saying that art is subjective, but only to a point. There’s people saw Battlefield Earth and thought, “Yeah, that was a good movie”. There’s people who thought Halo 5 had a good story. There’s people who think the armor in Destiny is fine. Tastes in things are subjective, but that doesn’t change the things themselves. The armor design in Destiny 2 is far from an improvement over the first game.

I do agree however the override set for warlock is dope imo with like 2 helms imo.?other than that they need to get a real graphics designer and fire whoever is developing the armor now. you can tell they are a hunter lover. LW raid armor imo best for hunter/titan head piece from COS for hunters dope the gambit helms as invader are cool and have a mask for all the COVID carrying enemies you face too.

1 ReplyYou look like Randal the Vandal's brain-damaged cousin
-
I loved the mars armor. Nice and clean.
-
Also can we get the Titan's mark of the risen back the og belt one from d1.
-
1 ReplyNot worse then titan. But hunter, oh they get nice crested pants.

When are we all gonna realize that D1s art style made way more sense and fit the universe way more? Now our characters look ridiculous. I’m rocking that VoG set till Crota and Kings Fall come back. All 3 classes look weird in new D2 armor sets. They haven’t made a new helmet that looks good on any character in a long time. As well as titan arms, warlock robes, and hunter cloaks. The new art team just comes up with the most random shit they can think of.

2 RepliesMost of all the loot is on ugly on all guardians in d2. Very few good sets.

We need cat ears+maid dress warlock.

it’s called trash

If looks could kill ... A cabal, a hive and a fallen come across a warlock. The fallen starts laughing hysterically, tripping up the hive, who impales the fallen with his spikey armor. The cabal ends up falling over his shield stabbing himself on his golden blade an the hive. And that’s why Bungie dresses you like clown. For your own good you know ... lol.

Very soon this game will look like cod advanced warfare

Edited by RUFIORUFIO: 6/6/2021 6:43:09 PMQUESTION IS WHO IS ACTUALLY DESIGNING TITAN ARMOR!!!!!!!!! Only cool looking armor designs are for the Hunter usually. There are a few Hunter pieces that are hideous also though.

1 ReplyThe Hunter Eververse armor this season looks like what Guardians named Chad wear to a semi-formal brunch at their friend’s dad’s yacht club.

Season 10 warlock ornament set. Gunmetal Marigold shader. Now you look like a Russian Navy officer. *USSR anthem intensifies* You're welcome.
-
I personally like this one, apply a really good shader and the glows are awesome. The one players buy from eververse though? Oof that definitely needs some work.
-
Really? cuz for me it looks great like the season 10 ornament gear. who is designing titan armour is what i want to know

1 ReplyI agree. Hunter armor is also terrible here lately. *Hunter crying in ugly cloaks* I'm just praying I get the VOG cloak soon, it was one of my favorites from D1. I love long cloaks with no rips or holes. Armor design definitely needs to step it up.

3 RepliesEdited by Artisan: 6/6/2021 3:22:40 PMGenerally, I agree. One of the problems seems to stem straight from the concept level. Design wise, Titan is the Hulk - can be brawny badass, Hunter the Ninja - stealthy badass, Warlock seems to be just Gandalf... doddering old man sticking his sword in ground - you shall not pass - wearing a dress-robe forever more. Not really badass. For Warlock to look deadly it needs to look otherworldly and sinister. I think they need to draw inspiration from other magic-using figures, a more Satanic, youthful, malevolent, powerful concept, to bring back some greater possibility of being badass. The only thing they tried along this line was a kind of Shamanic look to the Moon gear - which unfortunately was amongst the worst ever made. Points for trying. Titan's, despite the often comedy shoulder pads, emphasizes it's strength and melee. Hunter's looks emphasize it's shifty, sleek, quick deadly movement abilities. Warlock just draws on clichéd ideas, like bizarrely strapping on scrolls to its arm band, 'bond'. It doesn't emphasize anything much as an actual characteristic, probably because all classes got the space-magic, pretty much equally. Drink Queensfoil Tincture however and it already moves in the right direction of what Warlock could be. ------ As far as specific existing looks, especially Helmet/heads people are questioning, Wrath Trail, Northlight Crown, some of the IB helmets, Wing Theorem, some of the Solstice gear, last year's Dracula-like Festival of the Lost helmet, and Great Hunt headpieces are all good. But PLEASE, no more dresses, Gandalf clichés, or Vex head clones.

I mean the Witch-King of Angmar is right there as inspiration and they keep trying to make me look like Denethor, Steward of Gondor.

13 RepliesEdited by Last Spartan: 6/5/2021 5:57:53 AMTo me, Warlock armor looks fine. In fact no, it looks great. Especially the Holdfast set. And you're talking like such a big man, so quick to bark out orders; let's see what you can do OP. Let's see what you can design. Give me a break.
-
I really don't like that set, but I think the Lightkin set (minus the helmet) more than makes up for it. The biggest problem I have with Warlock armour in D2 compared to D1 is that the upper arms are now governed by the chestpiece, when they used to be the gauntlets. Makes it much harder to get a match going when your arm appears to triple in width from the elbow to the hand. Warlock Bond design has also been pretty poor, especially when compared to how noticeable Hunter Cloaks and Titan Marks are, but they've most certainly been improving. We're getting more glowy things that are on fire or are animated in some way.

I love these posts as I low-key love to trap people in this rabbit hole. art is subjective I love for the "champion contrarians" to come in and say but There is no "but". There only is. That's it. There will be people who like it and people who don't. And there are few who have the time to express this fake outrage. You don't like it? Cool. Put on an armor set you do like and play the game man. Enjoy yourself more.
