Please bungie Stop doing this. You make a weapon that is terrible in PVP then require 50 guardian kills to get the catalyst. This is stupid. your forcing your PVE player base into PVP where they get pissed off and write threads like this. Why cant you just let us do what we enjoy.
Give us options in both PVE and PVP to get the new weapon catalysts. That or make the weapon not horrible in PVP to use.
Edit: the weapon was Ticuus divination. No one bothered to read any other posts where it was said repeatedly.
Edit 2: people still not reading. Past exotics do not get the season buff.

Edited by Atalix: 4/11/2023 12:12:41 AMI agree to this post. Exotic Catalyst with PvP progress feels forced and I have a handful just sitting with little progress of PvP requirement.. let alone how terrible some of the Exotics feel in either environment. I generally just avoid PvP and stick to PvE and I'm among that's stuck with Bungie's bs that discriminates casuals for fair progression. At least give an option. Bungie's obsession of Streamer attention and lack of cannon fodder to fill in anything.
-
5 RepliesThey know if they didn't force people into pvp, there wouldn't be enough population to justify keeping it going. That would indirectly force them to acknowledge their failures.
-
2 RepliesWhy do people keep crying about pvp? Just progress your season pass for the catalyst boost and get it done in one game. Not that difficult, use your brain and get better.
-
3 RepliesIt doesn't matter if you want to play PvP or not. The fact is that Bungie needs PvP cannon fodder to feed the streamers. Being a cantankerous old plick, I refuse to comply. Simple as that. I can happily live without the catalysts.
-
I just finished the first step of the side arm catalysts while doing my pinnacle for crucible. Only to find out that the second step is pretty much the same thing, except you have to use the exotic gun to kill 50 guardians.
-
7 RepliesI've never understood why, at least for seasonal exotics, it can't be something like "Get 50 guardian kills" -OR- "Get 200 combatant kills in strikes" Or something like that, whichever one completes first, completes the catalyst. What's wrong with options? Those who like Crucible will do Crucible, those who like Strikes will do strikes.

Going to finish Ticcu’s Divination. Not looking forward to more PvP with it. At least I get some pleasure making someone explode every now and then....
-
1 ReplyWhile I agree with you, Ticcu's was extremely easy to do. I'm a spud at PVP and I got it done in 4 games.
-
1 ReplyI agree for the most part, but I hate PvP and ticcu was easy. You don't actually have to kill anyone, you just have to hit someone with the tracking arrow and let them go get killed. You won't get credit on the scoreboard, but it will count towards the catalyst. Just do control, spam the tracking shot, and I promise you it will be done in no time with minimal frustration. I do agree with you about other weapons though.

Shouldn't have to not game with friends so I can solo grind a lost sector for hours n hours trying to complete and then get the thing to drop.

Give us options in both PVE and PVP to get the new weapon catalysts
Then how is Bungie going to at least try to get players to play PvP or other activities that they want them to play? Bungie is about showing numbers these days and it wasn't as bad as it is now because most players don't really want to play D2 PvP. If you look at the D1 versus D2, In D1 a lot of the weapons weren't tied to certain activities so you had options that you could run a nightfall, a raid, etc... or even buy a new weapon like Ghorn or Icebreaker that Xur sold that were 2 out of a few of the most sought out weapons. Destiny 2 is being designed to control what players play for certain items, not everything but quite a few. I mean, would any of you run a lost sector as much as you have if Bungie didn't place exotics in them or other items? Hell no, they were boring as -blam!- before they did but the only reason some of you don't think they are boring as -blam!- now is that there is a carrot dangling at the end.

What about all catalysts gain the ability of both PvE and PvP completion. Would seem fair it allows people to play the game how they want. This is both for current and existing catalysts.
-
As a pve main myself its threads like this that make me laugh. You really need that catalyst so you can mindlessly shoot that dreg in the head? Lmao

Edited by xbroggiex: 5/31/2021 12:12:30 AMFirst it will be...
BUNGIE GET RID OF PVP REQUIREMENTS FOR EXOTIC CATALYST QUESTS!
Then you will say...
BUNGIE EXOTIC CATALYST QUESTS ARE BORING!!!!
Honestly, I like the variety its better than running 500 of the same goddamn strikes. Though they are still kinda boring... removing the little variety it does have will make it even more boring.

Agreed
-
At the very least make it so that a kills requirement makes Guardian kills give more than enemy kills. Like, killing one enemy with the weapon gets one point, but a Guardian kill gets 4 points to balance it out.
-
3 RepliesAs long as all pve catalysts are available in pvp
-
4 RepliesI don't play pvp at all. Just not into doing that anymore. So, yeah, tying catalyst to pvp content is just not cool. I have to do without earning the catalyst since I just don't care for pvp. It is a shame when there are so many different ways we could earn said catalyst but are forced into doing it only one way. I to wish Bungie would stop forcing everyone to do pvp or do without if you don't enjoy pvp play.
-
I agree to an extent. My position is that if pvp is in as lousy of a state that it is and bungie ties weapon quests to it then pvp needs to be improved. If itbisnt improved then remove the pvp requirement altogether
-
4 RepliesJust make the catalysts accept either mode for progress. Problem solved, everyone is happy. If it's Guardian defeats? Add in Nightmares at the Altars or champions as well. Crucible matches? Add in strike completions or Nightfall completions. There you go, problem solved. Nobody is forced into content they don't want to play just to masterwork their gear. Besides, as Guardians the PvE is more important. Beating other Guardians senseless doesn't rid us of the alien scum that threaten humanity.
-
I’m awful at pvp and it literally took like two or three games. It’s really not a big deal, especially when you stop caring about winning or losing the matches when you are only in it for a quest.
-
Well they should be bringing back momentum control this season so just wait till it's around and farm away.
-
Basically bungie is saying play the way you want to play but if want certain items you have to play they want you to play. Catalysts should be 50 guardians or 500 combatants so the PvP guys can get it in a game or two and PvE people have to grind a bit more but at least there are options.
-
Edited by Noiztm: 5/30/2021 6:28:33 PMIf you have season rank 22 (i believe) you get 4x bonus to progress. That means 13 kills. You can get 13 kills with that sidearm in Mayhem in about 3-5 matches. For the record, I am a PvE main and I do all my PvP requirements in Mayhem and sometimes IB. Edit, I see it's TikiTorch in question. That actually was just the same. If done during the correct season it is still only 13 kills. I still recommend Mayhem, shoot frozen targets. That's also how I got the sniper ornament
-
Regardless of what the weapon is, 50 kills is achievable for anyone. You have to get 200 activity completions on that same step (400 for some of the older ones), so at worst you could average 1 kill with the gun in every 4 games and still get it in the shortest amount of time possible. If you choose to not play PvP at all in that step, there is no one at fault but you. With the seasonal catalyst progression boosts, they go down to 13 kills and 50 activities respectively. Similarly, if you chose to not spare a couple of hours in that season, while the boosts were active for that weapon, that's not Bungie's fault.

2 RepliesHaving read through everything i feel this is far more a issue with the state of PVP then it is with the Catalysts in PVP. If the weapons performed better in PVP or if PVP was better balanced it wouldn't be as painful an experience. Also the weapon I was using is Ticuu's so it doesn't even apply to the seasonal Buff. I had thought of a few solutions after reading everything. - When seasons change the requirements on the seasonal weapons catalyst change. -Giving a PVP and PVE option for each catalyst with the PVP option granting WAY more progress then PVE. - a SBMM playlist that isn't Kill Limited (I'm looking at you Elimination). If you want people playing the game. making one experience feel like a cheese grater to the head isn't the way to draw people in. I do actually enjoy PVP Just... honestly... Not in Destiny anymore.
