It's having a quest step actually go against the entire objective of the gamemode which is to keep focus on the points and get kills with advantage and hunts. The focus is no longer on the points it's on where the heavy will be even before it's there people running to place a bubble or grenade it and get lanes on it to bait people. The struggle back and forth for the heavy, the mercies that happen before heavy can even spawn since nobody is capping points. People throwing the match after losing the heavy since that is why they are there it's a waste of time if they can't get those kills (which is a shitty feeling by the way that you just wasted your tiem since you never even had a chance to get the kills). Like yeah you still have there being a splinter group go for the heavy when you can but it's not priority number 1 of the entire match normally.
If IB was more of a rumble type mode or something then like fine whatever. It still sucks, is still inconvenient and nobody actually likes the step but it's not actually going against the idea of the game mode itself. But the way it's always set up just leads to more mercies and nobody even really trying in pvp since they're all trying for the heavy.
Like I don't like the idea of sniper kills I can't snipe for my life but I at least spawn with 2 shots to try something without disrupting the game mode I can run to a point or something while I shoot around everybody with my sniper rifle and get killed by everything and anything.
It's also a weird insistence to me that Bungie really wants this step to be in there despite there being nothing but negative feedback for it. At BEST it's annoying at worst it's disruptive and running counter to the entire IB mode and makes it worse as a whole when PVP already isn't in anything near a GOOD place right now.

Nah, getting heavy is natural. Bungie has it in the game so it forces people to move around the map, they want you to get it. If you ignore it, you are letting the other team get it easily, then stomp you when you are protecting your precious points. When our team gets heavy and we lose a zone, we just get it back with heavy, it's one of the best weapons in the game, that's why people need to go for it.

Edited by Machine_DNA: 5/19/2021 7:59:47 PMThe idea of control is to control the flow of combat, not just cap zones - this is a common misconception. If you have map control then you’ll be controlling heavy spawn too.
