Buff Whisper of the Worm!
With Vault of Glass coming out! Exotic snipers will more than likely be the main use for damage against Atheon, where you want to keep him as far away from your Raid team as possible as there’s such a high chance he could kill the whole team. Back in Destiny 1 Black Spindle was a really good strategy to use for this raid, but then when Bungie added Whisper of the Worm to Destiny 2 to basically replace Black Spindle. Bungie themselves quoted this week Whisper of the Worm is in the Exotic sniper category as a “[Single target sustained damage (where the target has a handy crit spot)][Bungie]”, however with Whisper of the Worm’s current state it won’t be able to live up to Black Spindles legacy as a DPS weapon for this particular raid. Because of this why hasn’t Whisper of the Worm been buffed like it is needed to keep up with the new content and for this particular raid considering the fact it finally has a chance to for fill Black Spindles legacy as a DPS weapon for this particular raid.

5 RepliesIt’s already really strong. If it got a buff it would be the best option for DPS. It doesn’t need an adjustment, just the right scenario to use it in. VOG could be that option, SOTP was the previous option but there is no reason to buff it when we don’t know how it will perform. I think it is fine where it is. Any buff would push it over the edge. You forget that Bungie doesn’t want Snipers to be how they were in Season 8. That’s why they were nerfed. Whisper is fine it doesn’t need any changes.

7 RepliesIm pretty sure in d2 we wont give a toss about atheon's damage. If he was killing us back then it was because we had no protection/healing abilities. Now with rift / radiance / supers/ charged with light / mods etc... We can emote while being shot at by raid bosses XD

They're buffing Linears, why buff Whisper when it's still as good as DARCI for damage?

Whisper has some pretty excellent sustained damage as is, it's just super situational.

Ran it yesterday. Sleeper Simulant still works wonders. And with the buff coming, that again might be the play.

I'm expecting it to be all Xeno and Izi rockets. Honestly I wish Whisper just had more ammo efficiency, its damage is insane hitting similar per shot numbers to slugs without the catalyst even.

11 RepliesThis, but at least there are other solid loadouts for atheon. - Cloudstrike + Legendary Sniper/Lasting Impression-Auto Loading Rocket/LFRs - Izanagi’s + the same options - DARCI - Xenophage Whisper is still in the top 5. The magazine reserves are nice even with the other nerf. I personally am not going to use it since I missed out on the catalyst.
