Guardian Games is the perfect formula for Faction Rallies
Title says it all really.
I know some time ago, the Director's Cut stated pretty clearly that they were leaving behind faction vendors as a Vanilla D2 memory since the "cast is expanding" and whatnot. While im not going to pretend that just "adding something in" is easy (come at me, trolls, bungie lazy yada yada - move on) I cant ignore how this year's Guardian Games formula is exactly how Faction Rallies could and really should be reintroduced to the game. We have the loot in world pool already, free from the curse of sunsetting, with several faction guns still sitting in the dark waiting for new life with random rolls.
Obtain a class item that enables Reputation drops in playlist activities, donate to a receptacle and chase [u]insert loot incentive here[/u], then fly the winner's banner the following week.
You've got a third of the tower sitting silent and meaningless unless my robot uncle Saint is there to give me more subsistence/one for all Igneous Hammers. Revisit this part of the game. Paired with IB, Trials, the GM grind, and whatever else - more to do can only help.

Guardian games is just bounty simulator with no rewards worth chasing (imo) It’s far from perfect

1 ReplySpeaking of factions, I wonder if they'll ever let the faction exclusive ornaments become universal, with perhaps new ways to earn them since they've basically been sunsetted since S3.

How about no rallies and just getting d1 style factions back and have them be vendors for everyday play with rotating inventories (this gives bungie the chance to bring back old faction favorites from D1 such as the hung jury from dead orbit) The reason why Faction rallies were not fun was because they introduced a unhealthy amount of grind, with the third being by far the worst offender, just so you could say that "my faction is the best" meanwhile they could just bring back factions with a similar system to the one Shaxx has right now. Not to mention how many people actually hated how the faction rally system, especially its third iteration which then lead to the first guardian games which a good amount of people loathed.

I'd prefer a monthly Faction rally/event in the form of this lay out than Guardian Games that is pretty much whoever had the most numbers wins. At least with Faction Rallys there's different variables to who may win, come second or third - A player may have multiple characters dedicated to different factions and Factions arent bound to any specific class. Its still most likely population that would win but it would still be fairer than what we have now imo. [spoiler]New Monarchy fo'eva. [/spoiler]

It's a failure as Hunter will always win due to sheer numbers unless they get screwed over by bungie like last year. Not a complaint it's a fact For titans and warlocks to even stand a chance bungie has to step in to stop there dominance. Ile a titan by the way and hunters were screwed last year and if they lose this year it will be because they got screwed again. The whole of guardians games is stupid

Like stations on every planet that give materials and bonuses depending on who controls that location, or bonuses per strike or raid depending on which faction is clearing them most. Not to mention gear and cosmetics you can earn from multiple sources. These are just the basics. Faction rallies should [i]mean[/i] something. Not just consist of bounties and picking up little triangles over and over and over again. Until they can develop an event that truly justifies the existence of Factions, they should just leave them alone.

Because of Bungie, there are no Factions and that's because they don't know how to leave things alone that [b](work for a game.)[/b] They got this mentality that they can "fix things to improve whatever". Well, that mentality has ruined this game...

2 Repliesto be honest I dont agree, for the faction rally the devs would have to have put in a special reward that only that class can get if they win but if you don't main the class there is no point and you lose out on the other reward that would have been given out if the other faction won so you get nothing for your time

Which is funny, considering Faction Rallies were MIA for a very long time, being talked about as if Bungo was going back to the drawing board with 'em, then announcing they weren't coming back last minute, only to have Guardian Games show up last year, and fail, then GG 2021 return and be just okay. But here we are, with a mediocre event and, by comparison to everything else, it's actually pretty good... and all of a sudden "what Faction Rallies should've been, guys!" lmao

An obvious reason is guardian games doesn't really have gear associated with it. With factions there would be the expectation of armor that arn't ornaments and new weapons. Now as much as people would hate it I wouldn't be opposed to occasional eververse ornaments and cosmetics being tied to the factions. If they are to no longer be relevant to the story of our characters then they fit what I think the eververse should be used for, telling stories that are in universe but not tied to our character.

I thought it was pretty odd for Bungie to say that they want to expand the game and leave all Factions behind; and yet, they did with Guardian Games and I was like, "[i]um okay, how's that different, though[/i]?" Hopefully, maybe they will still have plans for the future DLC. Who knows.
