I actually really like the exotic despite the slow. I get the idea and everything but the one actual flaw with it is that you just get left behind in a lot of activities which just leads to like hesitance about using it in general and just makes the pace of the game worse and I don't think an exotic at times should be an active detriment. I understand there should be trade offs but I think I would like this one change.
The idea would be that during the time when you have the shielded buff/debuff since Barrier recharge is disabled anyways replace it with an always ready detonate function that would essentially do the cast animation again but then deal damage equal to the remaining overshield hp to the enemies within the slow radius and applying more slow stacks (scaling up for pve enemies but in pvp it's 100 damage at most)

I just want to be able to cancel it. Being stuck walking for upwards of 20 seconds is just annoying, especially if you pop it in a bad spot.

2 RepliesI think part of the benefit with the exotic is the tradeoff of two things: First, no more walls, and second, it takes more time to return the overshield since it doesn't charge during the shield-up duration. So I think if you could break it early, the class ability should charge at half-speed until the 20-second timer on the shield runs out, just to compromise. But if that happened then I'm definitely in favor of that change.

9 RepliesNo, you should get the ability to dissolve the shield, but you should not get what amounts to a 360-degree melee ability. This is how crucible gets busted crap that everybody hates.

In low level pve the enemy are too weak to break your shield, and you'll be left behind by your teammates who'll pull you to the boss way before you catch up to them. In high level pve your movement to get good positioning is what will keep you alive, and that's exactly what this exotic will take from you. In pvp without the penalty it would be OP. But with the penalty it's a joke becoz the shield is not strong enough to tank a sniper shot in the head. And it slows you to help the enemy sniper do that.

I don’t understand how this has 3 things that get affected Slowed, jumping and the ability doesn’t start until the timer is over. Yet, the mask of Backris has a couple of things that makes it even more op. Stasis fragment, arc damage. It’s not impossible to have this several times in a pvp match despite the cool down. Matches are very slow right now with stasis and 120s that the 20 seconds timer is nothing. I am actually getting tired of playing slow matches. They should buff icefalls exotic, buff the oem or nerf mask of backris

I'm not too sure about this exact mechanic, but I'd definitely support the ability to cancel the overshield to restore your full movement when needed, instead of having to wait the full timer no matter what.

2 RepliesEdited by MatteBlack: 4/9/2021 6:29:33 PMI actually don't know that this would help it, it sounds cool, but you still have a laggy animation that you would most likely die in, especially if your oversheild is broken as you are cancelling it and you get little to no damage. I think it just needs fixed, the fact that you are actionable before your camera returns to first person is stupid and does not line up with other abilities like rifts, hunter dodges with or without bakaris, end of supers, etc. The camera needs to zoom back in way quicker, the animation is just too laggy for what it does and my oversheild can get broken while I am still at the end of the animation even when I pop it very early. Also, instead of more animations, just let me cancel the oversheild when I press the button again so I can follow up on weak opponents and get my cooldown going again. Those two changes would bring it in line with other class abilities and make it viable.
