Shotguns have too much range, and the cluttered map design doesn’t help. It allows players to camp corners with shotguns instead of engaging in primary weapon duel.

4 RepliesHonestly... they probably literally can’t. The movement in this game is so insane that even the most long range maps still devolve into a reimagined Ape Escape. Even on maps like Equinox, like 8 out of the 12 players would just rush the small room on the side as opposed to using the incredibly open lanes to fight at long range. It’s really sad... The only way they can make a map that doesn’t favor shotguns is to literally make a ginormous flat plane with literally no cover. And I mean that was basically Equinox and let’s just say there’s a reason it isn’t here anymore.

There’s no reason a shoulder strike should cover 20 meters, slides should cover 10, or a dawnblade can run laps around a map in 10-15 seconds. I don’t think it’s the shotguns, I think it’s the ability to close a gap too quickly. It takes counter play out of the game and resorts to you, yourself, having to use a shotgun.

Agreed. Snipers require way more skill than shotguns and when you are in a close up fight it's a lot more fun to get into an epic primary battle than for one dude to just charge with a shotgun and get lucky.

6 RepliesThen snipers would just rule, which would be equally annoying, if not more so. It would appear to me that special ammo economy is the issue, there's just way too much of it. Spawn in with 1 round. Bricks only drop from primary or ability kills. No scavenger mods. I think that would solve a lot of the problems.

2 RepliesWho thinks that blocking every significant lanes with a square box is a good idea, Bungie? There are a lot of maps with lanes that should clearly be open obstructed by odd square boxes. I know you want to give players ways to close the gap, but it’s these map design approaches that contributes to excessive shotgun use.

7 RepliesThe issue was, to compensate for their wretched Peer to Peer network (easier to find 4 people in your local P2P area than 6), Bungie decided to cut the PVP size to 4v4. So the new D2 maps were designed for 4v4 play, and made smaller than D1 6v6. However, people hated 4v4, so Bungie brought back 6v6 but stuffed them into maps designed for 4v4.

I got frozen then shotgun in trials my first experience then they snipe you that’s an easy way to die if you camp at the spawns this week😅😅🤣

They need to nerf special ammo economy as well as add longer range maps, even if they add longer range maps if I am getting 3 shotgun shots every special pick up range is irrelevant.

Shotgun range has been nerfed drastically since Forsaken. The problem is map design. They should also bring in combined arms and add it to control like in D1.

13 RepliesNo weapon in crucible should be able to one shot another guardian. A shotgun blast or sniper crit shot should bring health to within 1% to allow the player to fight back. For you D&D players think of it as a saving throw. It’s too easy to dominate if you’re even mediocre. And there is no way to fight back. That would even solve the issues with stasis.

Anyone remember that one trials map in destiny 1 where there was a bridge and it was a snipe fest then that one really small map on Venus that was dark an had hella grass? 🤣

11 RepliesSimply limit green ammo like they did in D1. Stop the use of shotguns and snipers as main weapons. Stop spawning with it as well (again like d1). Then if you make bigger maps other primary weapons get a chance while still keeping HC’s relevant etc. Then the choice of weapons becomes more about preferred play style or team role (if you have a team).
