The amount of time needed to grind 5 charges is in no way comparable to the trash you get from a Tier 3 engram. I've focused two now and both drops were garbage, and in no way worth the grind.
It should have been 1 charge per tier (e.g. 1 for Tier 1, 2 for Tier 2, and 3 for Tier 3). Battlegrounds is fun, but it's probably the grindiest seasonal activity Destiny has ever had. If there are any more challenges that require Tier 3 engrams, I will be skipping them.

Ye it needs be 7 or 10 charges. It just feels a bit cheap rn.
-
1 ReplyRecaster stonks are up now that sunsetting is down! Feel less bad about the time investment. Went from not caring, to hopeful by the end of the season I'll get a few pieces of intellect gear. So far I've used 15 charges for 3 pieces of gear. 2 were trash and 1 was good but I had a slightly better piece for that slot already. Gave me hope maybe after enough rng one might be good.

1 ReplyShits stupid. Utter and complete waste of time. Tier 3 drop for stuff I've already gotten 100 times. Umbral engrams I don't even turn them in I just delete them. 5 hammer charges for tier 3 takes over an hour to get junk. While were at it crucible engrams for ranking up are useless also only thing they're good for is shards. Focusing engrams is a waste too focus an engram to get an armor piece with a 58 stat big deal. While we're at it Bungie can take that RNG ( that's not random at all) and cram it. Out of 12 pinnacles 9 were kinetic weapon. Yeah that's random. Horseshit.

The 5 hammer charges is ridiculous. I've unlock the upgrade which is likely to give you an extra charge when smashing the final chest. I did 3 and didn't get an extra charge. Terrible!
-
Honestly not even interested in the tier 3 stuff. Only two engrams hold any interest for me, they don’t offer pinnacle and I never get much of anything with above 60 stat so weapons with weapon rolls I’ll stick to the worldly weapons.

Edited by thatdudeEd54: 3/3/2021 7:50:26 PMKeep upgrading the hammer, youll get upgrades that will help you get hammer charges as you complete battleground activities
-
if it dropped 68 base stat on armor then I would do it
-
Level up the left side of the hammer grid and you can get up to 3 charges per run. It’ll get better in time once you level up your hammer. I’m sure the hammer will be here for months to come so no hurry.

3 RepliesYou mean, in ehroars opinion.... lol. It’s pretty funny how the trending tab is just an echo chamber of you tubers.
-
3 RepliesSo skip them. Have you unlocked the far left corner yet? Multiple hammer charges per battleground... Or more glimmer...or more seasonal engrams...multiple drops from the chest... I got a feeling battlegrounds are going to be quite lucrative once you unlock the whole screen.
-
1 ReplyAnd why are all these umbral engrams capped at 1300?
-
1 ReplySimple fix is just don't play battlegrounds. Takes too long just for powerful drops. Day one launch it was ok, but got old real quick.
-
4 RepliesIt's 3 runs if you got the rune for an extra hammer charge....

It honestly wouldn’t be that bad, IF we had the option to open more than one chest after that long repetitive event...
-
6 RepliesAs I said another thread regarding the amount of charges it takes for a tier 3 engram - don't overlook that cost of legendary shards also makes it not worth the time and effort. Tier 1 cost 5 shards and Tier 2 and 3 cost 10 shards. Even with the seasonal bonus means we lose out of 1 or 6 shards for every focused engram that gives a "bad" item in return. I've actually had some great drops from the unfocused Umbral engrams and given how the Season of Arrival's high stat armor engrams turned out - I'm not wasting any effort with the Chosen ones..
-
1 ReplyOne charge per tier just didnt click at the board meeting I reckon...

7 RepliesEdited by COMBATICUS: 3/3/2021 2:18:52 AMThe thing is why am I being charged shards lol. It's like at this point they just adding shards and materials to decrypt engrams so we can grind more. I'm already playing/grinding, why do I have to pour in shards as well. By the way this is from a few friends who play 3 to 4x a week, being parents and work nearly 40hrs a week it's a bit tough to accumulate alot of shards. I mean I'm ar 12k, so I'm not to worried but ever since they been adding these shards and what not to just redeem an engram I went from 15k to 12k in 2 seasons lol.
-
If you work it out you are simply better off just doing the umbral that drops weapons or armour for legendary shards. It’s much faster and you get mats back.

Edited by PhantomBrown: 3/2/2021 3:22:29 PMI really feel like we should wait and see how things perform once we have all the unlocks available.

4 RepliesEdited by Quiet_Bushi: 3/2/2021 9:25:44 AMThere is a specific PowerUp for the Hammer (it is a Level 3 PowerUp) that gives Double Charge with one completion of Battleground reducing the number of Battlegrounds to complete for Tier 3 Engram from 5 to 3. The Medalion costs 28 Cabal Golds. By following a smart path of the Hammer PowerUps and completing all the Seasonal Challenges to obtain the Wartable Reputation it is possible to get it already (so right now, during the third week of the Season). THIS However, the problem of Rewards from Engrams remains. If we combine this with the fact that specific Loot from Nightfalls and Gambit have very low drop rates... well, Bungie needs to do something about it.

With sunsetting gone and this activity stay for a whole year, It does not seem too bad.
-
5 RepliesOverall the Battlegrounds activity doesn’t properly reward players for the time invested playing. The loot is all trash.
-
Yep....an hour of playing for a single focused engram is way too much, not even worth it IMO.
-
1 ReplyEdited by phantomhatch: 3/2/2021 3:21:14 PMToo much grind for trash loot Haha no thanks! Now not only do I have to delete blue weapons and armor but umbral engrams too! Great job bungie!

With the removal of sunsetting my stance on it has changed. With the ability to get multiple charges in a run it doesn't take all that long to do. Getting a fantastic roll on an armor piece that doesn't have an expiration now feels a bit better. Before when I thought this gear would only last a year tops I HATED this system. There are worse time consuming things out there for way worse stat rolls. But I get it. Doing the same thing over and over again for a chance at a good roll IS annoying. But hey... That's Destiny.
