Sunsetting is demotivating the player’s desire to grind in destiny 2

The point I’m trying to make isn’t so much about grinding. It’s the purpose behind it. It’s the goals I’m trying to hit to get the armor and weapons that will last me. Forsaken gave me a reason to grind for new gear because random rolls (which should have not have been taken out in the first place) came back. Great I’ll grind for my god roll weapons and armor. Then shadow keep came out with armor 2.0. That’s amazing! I can customize my armor if I grind for the right stat rolls (mobility, recovery, intellect, etc.) Then beyond light came out... with sunsetting. Everything I accomplished from forsaken, up until now has been made meaningless. It would’ve been a total game changer if they made a weapons 2.0. Were you can customize your barrels/ scope and weapon perks. But no, they decided that all weapons and armor are just going to expire after you spent an entire season grinding for them that they only last for another three seasons. The grinding isn’t the problem.. the problem is that their is no good reason to grind when everything will eventually fade. They might of as well created destiny 3. They even promised us after vanilla destiny 2 dropped that they would not take all our weapons and armor away ever again. And while they did keep that promise, they also backhanded us by making the weapons and Armor that we could keep eventually meaningless. So let me ask you this Bungie, How can we become our own guardian killing machines when you are making our gear eventually meaningless? What gave people to drive to continue to play was first random rolls in the farm for god rolls! There armor 2.0 became a huge game changer as far as weapons armor and combat set ups! And after three years of intentionally and purposefully pursuing higher power levels, everything that I am the rest of the community have worked for are now expired? Take a few seasons to really think about how sunsetting is affecting your player base. I’m sure you are. If your numbers are higher, then I stand corrected. If your numbers drop, it might be a good idea to stop playing it safe and reevaluate how you can help us become better “guardian killing machines.” Please consider at least dropping sunsetting for armor. And if so for weapons too weapon customization needs to change though if you want to continues to see player growth. Update 2/15 Made a post about a concept for weapons 2.0 and how it could possibly be implemented. Its super long and thorough but if you want to check it out, see the link below: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/258320320 Here’s a post about the pain of grinding https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/258291192/0/0 Update 2/16 213 upvotes with 186+ comments!! Keep the discussion going guys! Update 2/17 245+ likes with 228 comments. The comments sections have been keeping me busy but it’s quite clear a lot of people have a lot to say! The real question is this: What is it that you've convinced yourself that you're "accomplishing" in this game OTHER than simply having fun playing it? That expectation----not sunsetting----is what the real issue is. None of ANY of this is real...and the only point of ANY OF THIS (unless you are a streamer or someone else who makes their living playing this game) ....is to have FUN. Sunsetting gives this game the ability to keep givin you power to chase...and the feeling of becoming more powerful...without BREAKING the game in the process. Destiny 2 from Forsaken to Shadowkeep was a broken game, that was in the process of starting to die. You just had to be an experience loot-game player to be able to SEE where the fatal flaws were startign to develop. Bungie made you a promise, that they NEVER should have made...because it was a promise that they had NO hope of ever living up to. They only reason they got away with it for five years, is because they kept NERFING everything into the ground after 12 months (a kind of sunsetting)....and because they woudl ABANDON the game for a sequel before the accumulating problems finally killed off the game. They finally hit a wall when they decided to NOT abandon this game. Thsi game would have become unmanageable....unplayable...and died like a dog if Bungie hadn't done what they did and allowed SIX YEARS worth of content and loot to accumulate in the game. In a way were EVERYTHING was viable and ANYTHING could show up in any part of the game at any time.
