The ranking system in Destiny 2 is so fundamentally broken that the best way to rank up is to get a fireteam together and THROW GAMES until you're heroic. Once you're at heroic and (assuming you have a degree of skill) you can build up your win streak by stomping people in heroic and low mythic. Hardstuck mid mythic without a winstreak? This is a possible solution. DO NOT DO THIS IN FREELANCE BTW. This is much better than the method most other people use, which is just grinding out to mythic. However, once you are in mid-mythic, winning one game and then losing another repeatedly (50% win rate) will cause you to lose glory. Even if you win 2 games in a row, then lose a game, you still can lose valor. However, this rule doesn't apply if you have a win streak, even if that streak is carried over from a lower rank. Since you don't lose your entire win streak, this method works better than just grinding out games in Mythic hoping that you get lucky and win multiple in a row. Before people complain that this is cheating. No, it's not. These are mechanics that Bungie put in the game to reward higher-skilled players. We're just using that system to our advantage, even if it means throwing some games intentionally. While many streamers/youtubers blame this system for making it "easy" to get to legend, they are also in the top 1% of players, so of course it's easy for them. While abusing this doesn't make getting to legend easy at all, it certainly makes it less of a pain when you are winning more games than you're losing and still not gaining Valor.
