Raid gear needs to have its power upped retroactively

I find myself not wanting to run any of the raids simply because the gear from them wont have as high a power cap as if I were to run it next season. This should not be the case, I shouldn't want to stay away from the raid as long as I can just so I can keep the loot I earn. The power cap on raid gear, and gear in general, so long as there are no perk changes that would essentially make it a different weapon, should be based on the highest power cap which that gear has, not the cap of the season in which it was earned. Edit: I want to make this clear, I am PRO sunsetting, I'm not complaining about the fact that raid gear is getting sunset, I'm complaining because raid gear isn't getting sunset, but yet there are arbitrary caps based on the season you earned it. My 1360 nation of beasts will be unusable in season 15, but if I earned the same nation of beasts this season I could use it in season 15. They are arbitrarily making us regrind old guns, which is why I say the cap should be upped retroactively. As the cap is raised overall, they shouldn't make us grind the same gun to benefit from that raised cap.

  • Disagree. Then youd have to do the same with trials, IB, dungeon, and GM drops. All are endgame. They all stay or go together.

    • The power cap is good for a year, why use the same crap for over a year

    • And then the whole point of sunsetting becomes irrelevant. You let the camel’s nose under the tent, and soon the whole animal is in there with you. This notion that we get to keep stuff forever needs to go away. It is poisonous to a loot game, and it’s a promise that Bungie never should have made. Because they were never going to be able to make good on it.

      • I agree. All raid weapons should have the highest possible light level regardless of when they were earned. I’m the same - currently not cashing in any spoils of war and will only do so when I reach max until the season in which the weapons are at max light level - this seems counterintuitive to me.

        • Re-sell and re-offer the same exact content so you re-grind it, just like mountaintop next season. This is the Bungie way.

        • I think they should just make raid gear last longer than a year. Two years would probably be good. It's annoying to know to that I have to go back into a raid and get the same exact roll just so it will last longer. The power level should just stay the same for two years and never change.

        • I have 5 different Last Wish armor pieces on my Hunter and almost all of them have different light caps. The same is for Trials gear as well.

Facts. If a weapon comes back with the same looks, same name, and same perk pool just with a different number on its infusion cap, our old ones need to be infusible. This, of course, creates a problem for Bungie where then players will hoard every single item ever in the hopes it gets un-sunset. The real solution is: don’t give us the exact same weapons with the exact same perks back ever :). This idea would only apply to weapons they have already done this to such as Gnawing Hunger, but would be a one-time thing because hopefully they’d never reissue weapons with the same perks ever again. Raid weapons can be an exception for the time being, as they have already set the precedent for it and it makes sense that raid weapons would remain relevant for as long as the raid is playable (at least to me it makes sense).

          • I hear you... However if they did up it retroactively.. people would not be doing raid activities because they have all the God rolls they need already. It's Bungies way of keeping them relevant. If I put on my "bungie cap" I see why... I do not agree with it but it's their sad way of making sure there is enough endgame content to keep players engaged in the addictive gamble of RNG.

            • I can see this being an issue with most other raids but the last wish gear... You can literally get 3 chances every week (6 if you have a decent Warlock friend) at grinding for it solo using the wish wall and secret chests, quite easily. I mean, yeah it's still doing that every week and praying. And compared to the other raids, last wish is far easier to do solo whereas GoS and DSC both require at least one completion (and earning the gear you wanna farm) exploits to get at. Last Wish gear requires neither; if you know what you are doing, you go in and go get.

            • Just upgrade them. Go see Banshee. If you don't want to raid then don't. Just infuse gear or wear different armor.

              • Personally raids gears and weapons need to be treated as exotics. What I mean is the lvl cap needs to go away and never be sunset. These are end game activities , that have potential of being vaulted. So the least they can do is at least not have them in the sunset department with the rest of the loot pool. But this is bungie, "we are listening" but to each other not the players lol

              • Are you suggesting that we should regrind the raid weapons with same rolls ?

Hey, im not trying to be argumentative here, but how can you be pro sunsetting, when the issue you have posted about, is a direct result of how badly bungie has implemented it? Theres really no reason to sunset armor. Its purely to make armor irrelevent, and push impatient people to use silver instead of grinding when transmog comes out. I too feel the same as you about raid gear btw. And i was initialy pro sunsetting too. But, then i saw bungie couldnt deliver their plan to replace sunset loot adequetly ✌️

                  • Yeah I'm a little concerned that I'm going to have to re-aqcuire my 1410 capped raid gear this time next winter.

                    • Not to sound like a jerk, but weren’t you pro-Sunsetting? To keep boosting the power cap on it is an anti-sunsetting thing. Maybe by seeing the raid gear become obsolete over time, you’ll see why some of us were against this bs in the first place..... To your topic, I just wish they would pull out on the sunsetting thing. Constantly raising the power level on raid gear just shows to me that sunsetting was a failure. So no to raising the cap, because I want that cap entirely removed. But I’m not likely to get what I want. Maybe you will get yours?

                      • I 100% agree. Raids are end game content, and as such they should always be treated as such. Old raids should always have their level cap moved up to match the current years cap. They did this with Age of Triumph, revamping raid gear completely as well as upping their caps to current power cap. I'm not saying they have to revamp old gear and make it better(though I'd definitely prefer it if they did), but at least keep raids relevant throughout the years. Keep the challenge going, and give people a reason to grind the content aside from spoils of war. This is why I was so against dropping Heroic/Prestige raid difficulty. It could have been a way to keep raids fresh, instead they're becoming outdated and the reason to run them gradually fades away over the months.

                        • It last for a entire year, plus there will be new raids also lasting a year before there sunset. When are the sunsetting post's gonna stop it's not going away noir should it have to.

                          • Also the stats need a massive rework. They are trash for the most part and its supposed to be endgame rewards. As well as trials, gms, iron banner etc.
