I've been trying to get into a raid, but all the fireteams ask to use Discord. (Bail when they do)
Does discord expose my email address? How about my IP?
Trying to find a simple raid to join is frustrating. Sure wish there was an easy way to experience the raid content..
Does discord expose my email address?
No, unless your account gets hacked because you clicked an external link with the purpose of getting it, but that isn’t exclusive to discord. Don’t click spam links.
How about my IP?
Similar situation to the first answer. No matter where you are there’s always a chance someone could get your IP address, hence why DDOSing exists. But you can’t openly see information like this. I’ve used Discord for awhile and I’ve haven’t had any issues. It’s a solid app if you’re into communicating with others in many different communities, or just one. There’s many communication options and decent voice chat, that’s why people like it. If you follow all other rules for internet safety, you’ll be fine.

Rest easy, discord is pretty safe to use. It will neither reveal your IP address nor your email. I have been using it for a long time and if you still feel uneasy about it, you can download all information discord has about your account.
