To elaborate on 1 there are that you can only obtain curated rolls from curtain activities. Like the Spare Rations for example can only have it's curated drop in Gambit Prime, and it's the only way you can get Explosive Payload on that weapon which is nice in PvE content as well.
As for 2. It's pretty self-evident. Making Players regrind a roll they already have every few months seems in poor taste. If you wanna keep a weapon around, then just keep it around. Don't tell me mine sucks now just because

1 ReplyThis whole Sunsetting makes me feel like "what's the whole point of even playing" No point of going all out on farming god rolls. I feel no point in going into trials when the flawless gear will only have 6 months to live post beyond light.
-
Won't lie, was mildly saddened when my first weapon drop of BL was an Arsenic Bite. Then I saw the explosive payload + dragonfly and smiled.
-
4 RepliesI spent last season preparing gear. Swapped all 3 bad omens. Got a few good gnawing hungers and all need shotguns. Only kept old loaded question in use as no replacement available
-
13 RepliesDoesnt make set to sunset one iota knowing we are not getting full vendors, world and activity resets. Bad bungie. Hey but we got dynamic weather!!! Because you know that's what players have been clamoring for for 3 years!!!
-
10 RepliesThey really showed us. Strike recommended Power level is now level 1100.
-
5 RepliesI fully agree with you on this. I dont see the point of chasing old weapons just because of a power number. I have a last perdition with 5k pvp kills on it and i will have to leave it behind in power enabled pvp content. That is some bullshit.
-
The biggest problem is they aren't even coming close to replacing what they took out. I only jumped on and took a quick look at rapid scouts. You are down to one rapid scout rifle in the energy slot. So if you like rapid scouts, your down to one choice and you can't run a fusion rifle with it. Taking away options is never a good idea. I hope slot of you didn't buy this dlc.
-
they do that deliberately though, because they want to get rid of that roll.
-
3 RepliesLet's just go back to pre decided rolls . Then watch y'all -blam!- about that also .

Id br filthy if they changec the goalposts now.

1 ReplyBut that defeats the point of why Bungie is putting sunsetting in the game in the first place: to force you to spend more time grinding. They're content-bankrupt. Even Beyond Light is just stuff they had been working on for Destiny 1 that got shelved, and it's not even the size of Forsaken. How are they going to keep you playing if they can't force you to grind for loot that they simultaneously removed the incentive for grinding from? That's the best part, actually. In their quest to shortcut their inability to provide meaningful content, they rushed a system to force players to regrind gear they already own, but did it in a way that makes that grind not worth it. In order to avoid killing the game with a lack of content, they killed the game with a lack of incentive. A move that only a rare few can pull off. Congratulations, Bungie.

Don't tell me mine sucks now just because[/quote] Lol. Make sure you point out that it is the RE-ISSUING that is the main gripe. Cause certain forum famous people will have to tell you about how the game needed Sunsetting to interest you in maintaining the grind for loot. Make sure to point out that reintroducing the same weapon for me to grind that will last us as long as we had the trash moon weapons makes it less desirable to loot and collect. That everything you saved in anticipation of a rotating Meta will only function in places it doesn't matter. That re-issuing the weapon back to the sandbox had not helped the balance of the game and gives even more limited choices.... So just use your "brand new" Gnawing Hunger.
-
Absolutely. If you are going to reintroduce something unchanged then just extend the expiry date on already existing versions of the weapon.
-
I guarantee you bungie will remove sunsetting. Spring 2021 guarantee it
-
2 RepliesThat would defeat one of bungies goals: extra player playtime by regrinding guns they grinded for years ago. Anyone that can still defend it is totally blind
-
I’m with you, but unfortunately we already tried this, just think of Gnawing Hunger. I’m assuming the complexity of the game’s backend makes this difficult, though being a software engineer myself I’d think it would just require changing the values of records in the database. Who knows.

2 RepliesNo time to explain and so many “new” weapons are D1 recycles. Just like so many weapons we already have are D1 recycles. Why not getting new weapons instead of the same old same old that we already paid for so many times by now?
-
Bungie can't do that! They need to keep inflating file size to have excuses to have the content vault!
-
Just bend over and delete you vault like the rest of us! THANK YOU BUNGIE MAY I HAVE ANOTHER!
-
1 ReplyWhile I will not disagree with this, doing so undermines the point of sunsetting entirely. And now this leads into the logical fallacy this whole system is in the context of Destiny and how much it literally has no place here.
-
Mmmmmthey should have already did this with armor 2.0. There is no way there wasn’t a single person in the room where it happened(😏) didn’t what you said. Dev: I don’t know...maybe? we should do this good idea instead of these bad ideas ? Lead: pack your shit, you’re gone. Who next? Everyone’s:🙄
-
Edited by mac626: 11/9/2020 4:17:10 PMAll loot sunset or not will never measure up to d1 loot imo. I don't really care what bungie does , either the sunset it or not Who cares..
-
I agree. The way they handled the raid weapons being updated is how they should handle them all being updated.
-
19 RepliesEdited by Major-Payne: 11/9/2020 10:26:07 AMI think the community really needs to take a hard stance on this. I’m all for sunsetting if those weapons are replaced with new original gear. But I will lose my shit if they really think it’s okay to keep doing what they done in the past with recycled gear. 6 months from now when Not Forgotten 2.0 comes with with a rag draped around and they call it Always Remember we just -blam!-ing walk way.
-
5 RepliesI know this is off topic, but does anyone know if all destination materials are becoming obsolete or just the vaulted areas?
-
I don’t mind regrinding too much for reissued weapons, it just depends on what I’ve got to do to get them. Now Bungie did up the power on all my garden and last wish gear with no regrinding required, which is good because it’s been hard finding good teams for those raids. However, since gnawing hunger was just a regular world drop and the chances of getting it could be increased through focusing an umbral engrams, I didn’t mind the regrind. To me, whether it’s good or bad depends on how easy getting the weapon is.
