Weapons get reissued later when they need "content" for a season after the DLC drop. This was the point of sunsetting. This falls in line with their other business tactics like reducing bright dust and chopping content from year 3 to fluff up the expansion. I'm still waiting to see what mess we are in from people complaining about bounty xp. End state is probably a massive decrease in bounty XP and a minor increase to activity XP resulting in 70 or 80 % of doing everything combined on the current system. They have done a fine job of marketing Beyond Light as Destiny as a whole instead of DLC. What I mean by this is that a large chunk of the community now fails to separate what is part of the $40 expansion and what is free. This inflates the value of the DLC because a very large chunk is not part of it. Chop out all the free to play and $10 season and what is really left for $40? Has anyone wondered what happened to the 3 exotic armor pieces we received every season until this current one? It was pulled to combine with the 3 we would have received next season for marketing to say we have 6 new exotic armor pieces. This $40 drop may be comparable to a year one DLC plus a subclass when you properly separate things.

So they are sunsetting weapons in order to create new ones to balance the sandbox but there are barely new weapons? Awesome ;)

3 RepliesWhy would you even expect a vendor refresh though? Bungie said multiple times that vendor weapons are just not worth their time since there are always better alternatives. And they are perfectly right. I'd rather get new weapons from new activities rather than just spend my 10k tokens and be done with it...

It does make you wonder. With games out there like Borderlands that has literally thousands upon thousands of guns and yet Destiny has how many? And can’t seem to ever introduce a new decent amount? I don’t even know man.

To be fair some of the brought back weapons are kinda cool. For example I never got a gnawing hunger from reckoning, or god roll spare rations, bringing back past weapons that didnt have time to shine in the sand box etc. For example I have a boss loud lullaby, but never used it in pvp due to the HC nerf. So them bringing back certain weapons that are good in the current sandbox but not the prior is kinda nice. I do think that bringing back weapons without newer perks is stupid. Especially if you have the same roll in the vault but dont use it due to sun setting. They should really include weapons from prior seasons that not alot of people got. For example... I didnt get any weapons from the bunkers, except the smg and shotgun due to the boring grind. So if they brought back some of the weapons to vendors thatd be nice. I also think variants of former pinnacles should drop in the respected playlist. Similar to eyasluna and treads upon stars from D1. It would give a reason to stay in the playlist, and people could still have the favorite weapons but with a little difference.

not buying beyond light until I play the free model for a bit to see what's new. if it's as bare bones as I think it's going to be, I'll stick with the free. never bought shadowkeep either.

1 ReplyYup just another reason sunsetting is a complete failure if you don't have the resources to give us new legendary weapons/skins theres no reason to do so. The only thing they needed to sunset was pinnacle weapons like mountain top and recluse otherwise everyone's loadout till the end of time would remain those 2 weapons and anarchy till the end of time.
