Why would you put QD on a weapon archetype which its only drawback was low handling? Like, outside of preferences (i only use slug shotguns) did you not assume people would use this as the obvious choice?

6 RepliesI think qd shouldn’t be on any shottys except maybe slug shottys. It’s kinda just and oh shit button.

I wouldn’t mind Quickdraw only being accessible on Slugs, Lightweights and Rapid fire frames. I don’t think shotguns are in a bad place but that slight change could give some more variety.

3 RepliesHonestly removing handling perks from all special weapons wouldn't be a bad way to give primaries some breathing room in pvp. Pretty sure lotta snapshot sniper mains are already headed for the barricades from that.

Edited by DiZ: 10/19/2020 2:39:16 AMThis is an unpopular opinion, but I'm of the mind that Quickdraw is just too strong of a perk itself. If a weapon can roll Quickdraw, especially if it has inherently low base Handling like in the case of Felwinter's or well-rolled Mindbender's/Astrals, every other perk in that column is borderline redundant when it comes to PvP. In the last game, if you used QD on anything other than Snipers, you'd be losing out on large, very important stat boosts like having Rifled Barrel on a Shotgun or Hand Cannon, or something to give more Stability/Range on a Fusion or Pulse Rifle. Whereas in this game, since it's a base perk, it's a no-brainer pick 9/10 times, heavily devaluing things like Ophidians on a Warlock(outside of the not too recent melee range increase) or Dexterity perks on boots.

1 ReplySo let me get this straight You’re a slug main which you have a 4-6 meter range over ANY pellet spread shotty and you’re complaining about QD? You got outplayed even with the range advantage. This is a YOU problem. And last I checked a lot of Precision Frame Shotties can get QD too. GBS, Blasphemer and GAxe all can roll with QD.

28 RepliesEdited by Artisan: 10/21/2020 3:31:40 PMShotguns are used to exclusion in PvP. They are oppressive, they are meta - it's essentially a handicap if you DON'T equip them. Shotguns should never have all the advantages of an easy OHK weapon with easy ammo resupply and none of the drawbacks of their archetype. They should be slow handling...but QD. They should be inconsistent for OHK...but Opening Shot...but Rifled...but Slideshot. They should be point blank...but just micro-nerfs. There should be competition....but they effectively deleted the legendary fusion class from the game. They should balance the sandbox and they should hire some community managers who talk with their community...but Bungie.

Remove snapshots and quick draw from all snipers then. Make them have pve flinch and dumb down aa and bullet magnetism.

Hey, guess what! Those brain dead shotgun users got the best counter to them nerfed. Fusions. Idk how backup plan got nerfed if quick draw and snapshot are still a thing. Literally defeats the purpose for switching weapons as a penalty, just let people akimbo guns at this point. Now fusions have slower draw time and they need to be charged! Really disappointing.

You have a good roll on your SS shotgun. Some people prefer lightweight shotguns and they seem to have good range. Here's how I would rank shotguns -Shot Package -Aggressive -slug (rank is based on preference) -Lightweight -Precision -Rapid Fire

Imo Specials shouldn't have any way to change their handling speeds. But so long as the Quickdraw tech nonsense is in the game, it's a moot point

Edited by Kiro - 13: 10/19/2020 6:15:48 PMMost people view Astral Horizon as MUST roll quick draw or its scrapped, and I agree with that sentiment. An example dmg04 just got one and linked it on his twitter because he thought it was tasty but the sad reality is as seen in the comments the gun is trash with out quick draw in pvp. If you play SG you will notice fights can be determined by pull speed, if you are playing an agressive frame in pvp with out quick draw you are better off going with parcel of star dust this season, as its a superior cqc just getting sunset. That is pvp though, you can make any thing work in pve.

Still wouldn’t be enough incentive to use other shotgun archetypes. I think the other archetypes should spawn with more ammo.
-
These kind of nerfs just make the game feel worse with no gain. People always trying to nerf the gun out of the game. This game is not competitive let it be fun
-
Same with snipers

2 RepliesIt's the most consistent shotgun archetype for sure, but that doesn't mean other shotguns are useless in PvP. Whiffing an aggressive shotgun blast means that any faster-firing shotgun immediately has the upper hand. That's not a small thing to scoff at. You can still reach legend, go flawless, and go on big winstreaks just fine with a good Seventh Seraph CQC or Prophet of Doom.

Only drawback is handling? I’m pretty sure RoF is supposed to their drawback...
