There just isn’t any. It’s completely pointless. I can understand weapons, because they actually do something, but armor is mostly just for looks and light. You don’t need to tweak or change armor at all.
Plus, it’s not like they’re getting rid of the armor complete, it’s still gonna be in the game, just completely useless
-
agree, i'm fine with weapons but armor is pointless, and it took hours to get the perfect rolls for the stats, i hope they change that

It's to make us refarm the same seasonal mods later. My bad I mean so they don't feel bad about no one wanting the new armor they made. Ok ok seriously it's to just make us have to farm even more stuff. Alright for reals it's to give another middle finger to players. Think you could pick any of these to fit the reason.
-
Most likely to remove seasonal mods being usable. Needing to keep in mind old mods that could break activities is probably just a problem waiting to happen and they’re trying to prevent it. Not completely sure but that’s the main reason I can think of.

2 RepliesTo keep the slot machine churning out engrams. Bungie is forcing people to grind for rolls that they have already won. Bungie is preying on the weak who are addicted to the next high/low of decrypting. It’s a form of gambling.
-
To f**k everyone in the ass without their consent, pretty sure theres a word for it and you probably know which one it is.
-
The reason is to force you to grind for more armor. That is it. Time = money. Bungie wants your time because the longer you play, the more opportunities you go to their Eververse shop. The more you play, the more invested you become in your character, so when an expansion drops the higher the odds you will be dropping $$$ down on it Day One. This game is a hamster wheel, and you, me, and every other guardian is the hamster.

Um they don’t know how to make a larger vault?

1 ReplySo you have something to do all season long and not just for 3 weeks.
-
15 RepliesBecause you won’t pay for transmog if you can keep the armor you love...
-
Its completely pointless and I think the dumbest thing they've ever done.
-
2 RepliesIf they're sunsetting armor, there needs to be way more generosity with masterworking materials and we need to be getting top tier drops regularly.
-
Armor mods. Seasonal and raid mods make content much easier and can make for some powerful builds. I’d rather see seasonal mods sunset but I don’t think we can sunset raid mods without sunsetting raid armor. They put themselves in a bind honestly. The community will not be happy to see just mods sunset either.
-
It technically has a sunsetting form currently with what mods you can use on what armor. Only way I could justify this is if all future armor has intrinsic buffs like reckoning armor does in Gambit Prime. Imagine farming for a full set of raid armor that buffs you and teamates in the raid its from, Pvp armor buffing you in pvp, trials armor buffing you in trials (might need a tweak for that one), strike armor for strikes, etc. Of course Id ask for be able to set builds to switch to with a button push in the chatacter screen. Like a simple "Set 1, 2, 3, 4" each one equips a different set of armor, then maybe a similar list for weapons. Not sure about combining the two into a single list however...
-
Would it be better to institute a 'durability' spec, that decreases with damage? That can be repaired with legendary shards and other materials? That can be destroyed by overly powerful enemies? Cause that could be fun. Not a high enough level for the new content.... hope you weren't too attached to that armor set... Playing a raid for the first time - better put on some crappy armor. There are worse things that Bungie can do than sunsetting, but I can see how it can be frustrating.

3 RepliesEdited by CookieNiki: 6/29/2020 8:09:26 PM
Literally what is the reason to sunset armor?
My take? Increase grinding and reissue gear. #makingcontentishard

Edited by Emurinus: 6/30/2020 1:38:54 AMI'm pretty sure the whole (mechanical) point is for the seasonal mod slot because all armor functions identically otherwise. Money-wise, pay for transmog.
-
Sell the season pass. I have done shit tons of raids never seen 67 stat rolled armor from a raid but that season pass armor gives you the god roll stats if you throw 10 bucks for season pass.

sunselling

To destroy pinnacles and continue the hamster wheel. Bungie has been anti player since D1, but especially in d2.
-
Cause eejits need something to do.

That you don't hold all the Magic cards available in all formats forever There.

To force you to grind for all the exact same armor again.
-
All delay tactics to slow down game. Everything about this game leads to delaying content

1 ReplyBecause -blam!- you, that's why. -Bunglie

2 RepliesThe only reason I can see why seasonal armour is being sunset is because of seasonal mods.

Mods.
