When luke first spoke of this sunsetting stuff he referenced magic the gathering and its formats, i cant help but assume luke has never actually played in those formats or else he would know when ever cards are reprinted you dont have to buy them again you can use your old ones.
But if he has played mtg in those formats then why the -blam!- do i have to regrind for weapons i already have?
They are literally the same except their power cap so why cant i just infuse one into my old one and increase its cap?
I was willing to give sunsetting a chance because i figured there would be room to make problem perks that only last a year so things could get a little crazy no problem but i cant get past this bullshit, i am not going to regrind my entire vault.
You can -blam!- right off with that nonsense, some of my guns took me months to aquire and im not doing that grind again for the exact same gun.

15 RepliesI went from playing all 3 characters at the beginning to one for a little while, and now I barely play at all. At least with these stupid seasons that offered nothing at all. I didn't even buy 2 of them because that is how stupid they actually are. This is the WoW guy's vision and the future we get to look forward to because he lacks creativity, the experience of knowing how to create solutions. His way has always been about cutting corners so we don't have to deal with it and call it "a fresh start". Do you want to know the extent of the director's creativity? Well, this is it, for 2 years he ignored the player base asking for factions to come back to give some BS story in his "directors cut". Then comes out with Guardian Games, basically replacing factions for a short period. That is the creativity we are dealing with when it comes to the director. Man! miss the talent that use to work for this company that had heart that knew what they were doing.

Excuse my ignorance on this, just a question, is this what Bungie are planning on doing? Sunsetting all our old gear just to bring it back one, two or three seasons down the line for us to grind again for them? I can’t see them bringing in entire new lease of weapons and armour, especially as they like to bring back old stuff now?

Like a few have mentioned, this could be the buffer stage this season. The bulk of new weapons would be next season with no recycled weapons at all for the most part. That being said, I don’t agree whatsoever with regrinding the exact same weapons people already have. If it were to be that way, there would need to be a noticeable difference between each variation. Also, the reintroduction of legacy weapons with focused umbrals shouldn’t be power capped at older seasons. That one just boggles my mind. They are “legacy” which makes since for me to regrind them if I want it and don’t have them yet, but why are you going to have weapons at a lower cap in there? So for Temporal Clause and Optative, those will be unusable next season? All weapons included in focusing should be max power cap since this is the main content of the season. They said we want to give players weapons they missed out on, then proceed to give them to you with a lowered power cap or a couple that will expire after the end of season!?

Next expansion Luke Smith will make you roll a dice before you get a pinnacle drop because "I played D&D once and thought it was cool".

15 RepliesEdited by Demon_XXVII: 6/29/2020 2:19:41 AMSomeone needs to remind Luke That this isn’t Magic: The Gathering (cards??) Or World of Warcraft (Games I’ve never played, but I would assume have a specific & dedicated development team that doesn’t go ahead insulting their playerbase with stupid, thoughtless, blinkered & stubborn decisions?) It’s DESTINY And from the moment he was handed D2, he’s been destroying the bloody thing!

Indeed, could not agree more.

7 RepliesEdited by TitanKnight: 6/29/2020 3:17:10 AMThe fact that shitlord is trying to inject Warcraft and Magic the Gathering into Destiny instead of making Destiny create AND be its own unique thing speaks volumes of how incompetent and unfit he is to direct Destiny.

2 RepliesEdited by juppstrunz911: 6/28/2020 7:07:35 AM...I was really waiting for that " I told you so" Moment. Simply could not understand that someone really believed that bungie makes something good out of sunsetting. Did you really not learn from the past?

2 RepliesRemember when kiosks were first introduced in d1? And you could pull the new version of the old exotics from the kiosks? Yeeeeah that team is long gone. And this new team is making all the same mistakes the old team made. Sad part is this new team has a point of reference on what not to do and are ignoring it....or half listening. We got collections instead of kiosks and it could/should be perfect but instead of improving on it, they're "sunsetting". I refuse to believe they couldn't find a better solution to a lot of the bs changes they're making. Armor 2.0, collections, progression, random rolls. All tied together and players here could shit out a better systems that bungie seem to be struggling with.

2 RepliesDefeats the purpose of artificial grind if you circumvent the sunsetting. Now, go farm for the gun you already have... again... and again... and again.

6 RepliesEdited by Corrick II: 6/29/2020 12:16:17 AMOne of the biggest problems Destiny has had from the beginning: The design team doesn’t give one damn about concealing the utterly transparent and insultingly clumsy attempts to keep us grinding. Other games cover it with new features or story or something to make you feel like you’re doing something new. Not Bungie. They just put the least amount of effort coming up with blatantly obvious grind and then throw it down in front of you and say “eat it”. And we do. Because that’s just where we are at this point.
-
2 RepliesIts laziness from Bungie. Artificially extending game time by re-releasing content which is already there so they do not have to make new weapons and armour.

2 RepliesNo that would make too much sense

hell no that is a hand out

Bring Kiosks back.

26 RepliesWhen they first announced sunsetting, I was okay with it- I saw the potential good it could bring. Since its initial implementation, this season has shown us some rather annoying truths- such as the one you listed. Implement sunsetting, at this point it is going to happen, but at least do it right

67 RepliesNo, it would mean sunsetting is pointless. People would just pull their old stuff out of their vault and keep using it. Meaning new gear never has a chance.

Edited by Knox Knox: 6/29/2020 12:09:48 AMIf friends will ask me: "Describe the game called Destiny?" Me: "It feels like Tom Cruise is behind the steering wheel when they made this game. The enemies feels like you're fighting a Mimic horde and we've killed an Alpha Mimic 6 years ago. Now we are resetting the week over and over trying to do the same stuff over and over while expecting a different result. Game could have been called - "Destiny at the Edge of Tomorrow!" Friends: "So why do they call it Destiny? . . ." Me: "I don't know . . . . . . because it doesn't have one?"

According to Bungie, you need to invest time into earning the “new” gun. Refreshing old weapons gives them extra time to create new weapons.
-
There is some benefit to regrinding some of the old weapons. Between getting a perfect roll, and a super perfect roll, I'm actually pretty happy I got to grind for another Gnawing Hunger. Point and case, my 11/10 roll with kill clip and demolitionist. Something that could never happen with an older model. I'm fine with sunsetting and reintroducing old gear, so long as the newer versions have better avenues for acquiring them as well as having more perk options available, be it double perks at the last column or more perks in the perk pool.
