Can anyone provide criticism for the live event, other than it Was too long?

So far it's the only complaint I've seen. But apparently this event was the worst thing to ever happen ever in all of gaming. So an anyone explain why they disliked the event so much, other than its duration?

  • You aren’t going to get any reasonable answers here. These forums are not full of people with reasonable senses of reality.

I disliked it because it was not properly advertised, it didn’t start on time, players who weren’t available to participate missed out so all in all the community didn’t really get a chance to participate.

    • Too long. That’s just the start of it. Too boring. Anticlimactic. Non-interactive. Visually nothing special. No cut scene. No close ups of the action. Nothing heard from Rasputin. Nothing done on screen in the bunkers. No pyramid ships seen approaching behind the almighty

Sooooo, the all mighty is supposedly bigger than the moon. If the moon hit the earth we’d all be insta dead. I mean the meteor that killed the Dinosaurs was like 20-40 miles in diameter, the moon is like 2,000. Bit of a difference. Not exactly something that just crashes behind a small mountain range seeing as it’s like 50 times bigger than the mountain range........

Poor execution Poor communication Bad pay off Most people missed it It was just a cutscene But there was a cool explosion at one point so I guess it's the best thing to ever happen ever in all of gaming.

      • Bungie created an MMO watch paint dry game. It's revolutionary. A peak innovation, and actually an original thought Bungie didn't take from everyone else. Credit where credit is due.

      • No player interaction whatsoever, the buildup to this was signaling something amazing and in all honesty, it was basically a wallpaper, there was basically no content in the "event" (i'd have liked to see more npc's react to this), we cannot witness the crash site, no reason to believe this has story repercussions (or on the world for that matter) and that's just off the top of my head. I seriously believe this was just made to distract everyone from the fact that we practically know nothing of the next season.

        • I thought it was pretty cool. I sat in the Tower for 2hrs [it was actually 4 Towers because of "Beavers", but whatever], and I don't regret it. Sure, it was a long wait, but there were a bunch of us just having a laugh in the chat. I thought it was better than just giving us a cinematic. With this, we can say we were there when it happened, we witnessed it with our own eyes, rather than a cinematic that plays at reset that says "By the way, Rasputin did the thing we said he would". Other than the time framing, the only quasi-criticism I have is basically the writing for the whole season. We are god-slayers, champions of the Light, but this season was written so that the 'hero moment' went to an NPC, Rasputin.

        • Twas cool, and appropriate for the situation methinks. But in a different season, I would prefer a long mission, that actually has me DO something, that acts as the bridge between the two seasons. It was cool, but I’d rather physically DO something than watch it happen.

          • watched it on youtube. thought it was very cool my only dislike is there was no reason for me to log on. i would have liked something playable to give me a reason to log on. I have not touched destiny since season of worthy dropped and I was hoping to have something interesting to do. other than that I thought the scene was pretty cool to watch. I just prefer these things be playable.

My other criticism would be that as a story, it would have been better to engage players with something active rather than stand and watch. I reminds me of that other even where streamers went into that infinite forest and unlocked sundials and most people just sat on the side and didnt' participate. I don't the passiveness of it is engaging. I'd also say big picture i didn't think there entire almighty hitting us story was great because we didn't do anything as guardians really exept farm some kills and then throw seraph balls. It would have been much better if the story was the Almighty is on a suicide mission and we have to board it and retake it and steer it away into the sun or something. And it was like 5 - 7 missions of us fighting our way onto and through the almighty to the cockpit. I don't know what the story is but what it was i felt was totally unengaging. And I'd add as one last thing. We all know there's no danger cause they are talking about pyramid ships being the real danger and so there was little suspense.

They were trying to mimic the Travis Scott event on Fortnite. It was a sad attempt at a live event. I think the battle for the tower at the beginning of D2 (Red Legion) would have been the perfect situation to have a live event. We battle for the tower. There should be a interactive live event. Not just watching.

          • The problem was one of expectation. When you hype a live event, it sets up a grand experience. Next time, I think everyone would have said, “this is cool”, if it wasn’t hyped at all. Leak it to a couple of streamers who say vaguely, “something is happening” and let it evolve from there. Sitting there for over an hour not seeing anything, you couldn’t help but be underwhelmed.

          • Many of us didn't even have a chance of witnessing it. We either had to work or reset time was during normal sleep hours. A cutscene at the very least would have been nice for those individuals ( myself among them).

              • Once it actually blew up it was cool. The large piece of debris flying across the screen was spectacular. However.... The twinkles looked cartoonish, something you expect from minecraft The large chunk of debris that instantly was in the skybox seemed out of place for how far away the almighty was when it exploded. The hole in the floor over by Zavala probably should have been on fire considering the flying debris was on fire.

                • Aside from the long time, another criticism from me personally is that Bungie should given us a heads up a lot sooner then 24 hours before the event. I missed it because I had to work. If I wanted to take the day off I would have had to let my manager know a week in advance.

                • Isn’t the duration enough? It was expected something interesting and interactive but only got a huge delay for a 5min visual and an emblem. That’s it. For the first live event, almost 2h wait for 5min visual and a pretty average emblem.

                  • I guess for me is that it felt rather...anti-climactic. This whole season was about "Almighty is going to kill" us, "Save the Last City". And that's about it. Skybox only changed really for the past two weeks, there was never really a sense of what urgency in my opinion to clear bunkers or build satellites. Take last season for example. Overall we had the Sundial and Red Legion Flayers, but we also had Saint-14 and his little questline. We inspired him, saved him, showed him how Guardians operated in this new world. We explored the Corridors of Time, and while I'm not denying the reward could have been better the end result was pretty cool, at least I think. We also rebuilt the Lighthouse, and there was a sense of progress as well with the three Psion bosses merging into one. Last season felt involved for me, like my Guardian was actually doing something and vindicating all the praise talk NPCs spew. This season opened with a cutscene, you cleared out a bunker to get some little bits of dialogue, and than it was back to the grind. Zavala was suddenly chill with Rasputin because FooFoo boy never considered Rasputin was around during the Collapse, but than thats it. Really the only cool thing was the Lie quest since it felt like Rasputin was reaching out to Guardians amd we got to see more of him (questline was garbage and the door killed it though) And yes, the meme of Guardian Games is the ultimate point for me. The Almighty felt like such a little threat the Guardians just screwed around. Unlike Season of Dawn, Season of Worthy felt to me like watching a movie. Things happened that I personally felt would have happened with or without my Guardian, which isn't what I look for in a game Honestly I think this Season could hve been better if the skybox reflected better. First two weeks or so its massive in the Mercury skybox, than when its gone we do the Lie quest. This encourages players to do the PE and in lore it could be "crunch time", and this is Rasputin using the time to build a better relationship with the Guardians since he reveals the Pyramids are back. Eventually, maybe midway, Almighty is distantly visible in the Moon skybox, slowly getting closer and closer. Than Rasputin does a triumphic announcement that he to is a guardian of humanity, played across all channels amd than the Almighty gets destroyed. Zavala and the Warmind have their little bro moment, and than a week later Zavala celebrates with the Guardian Games all while a strange static plays out further in the system. Thats how I'd have done it

                  • I saw one person respond to someone else with something like "We did nothing but power up someone else. We did nothing but stand around and watch." For me, it was that it didn't even start when we were told it would.
