Being in favor of Subway removing sandwich options because you’re sick of seeing them there or you don’t want them right now. If someone else picks them it doesn’t affect you in the slightest and you can still get whatever new offerings you want.
(No, it’s NOT like replacing/refreshing stock items because Bungie isn’t removing anything from the game, just usability).
Meanwhile the person who comes in expecting to see their favorite toppings there leaves without getting a sandwich because there was no good reason to get rid of what they want from being an option.
Pretty simple analogy. Sunsetting makes no sense and I don’t buy the reasoning. Fight me.

11 RepliesLiterally every MMORPG style game from the start of time does this, as you progress you leave items behind. This is the way it is, you never get a sword and use it for the rest of the entire game, just doesn’t work like that. Quit your -blam!- and either play or don’t play, but no one wants to see these stupid posts. If you knew anything about bungie you’d know that crying here isn’t going to change a damn thing.

1 ReplySunsetting is nothing but a cop-out being implemented to cover up for the lack of genre defining development and lack of fun repeatable content presently in the game. Sunsetting is simply a tool being utilized to extend the end game.

1 ReplyWell said my good man. I am starting to think anyone getting on these forums and defending sunsetting is just an internet troll, contrarian or simply just a Bungie apologist. Don't know one gamer in their right mind that would be like... 'so let me get this straight... they are going to retire a players favorite weapons, force them to grind new ones that will HOPEFULLY be as good as their old versions and slather a bit of this term called 'power creep' and keep saying it until it sticks?!? Why thats.... pure genius!' I am in the middle of a frustrating Mountaintop grind and fired up at the thought of these toothy Mfers egging Bungie on to go full steam ahead and retire my gear. F those clowns

Being in favour of sun setting because you’re sick of things is like...
A few weeks ago, a video of Gladd running all the Destiny/Destiny 2 Raids popped up in my recommended YouTube playlist. I was bored, and I had time to kill, so I figured “why not”, even though I no longer play Destiny. Halfway through the Leviathan Raid ( the first D2 Raid ), the team wipes several times at the Gauntlet . Gladd changes up his load out, equips Recluse, and then immediately begins to -blam!- and complain about how much of a crutch it’s is, and how sick and tired he is of using it, and how he can’t wait for it to get Nerfed. And I’m sitting there wondering why he’s -blam!- soo much about a self inflicted problem. If he’s sick and tired of always using it, then he should stop equipping it. If he thinks it’s a crutch, then stop relying so much on it. No one is putting a gun up to his head ( or anyone else’s ) demanding that he only use Recluse, and nothing else.

1 ReplySubway sucks! Wawa for life!

2 RepliesThe thing is, in subway you don't get forced to eat the sandwich you don't like, but in Destiny, you'll still get shot by the same gun over and over and over and over again because there's no reason to use anything else

27 RepliesEdited by Sweet Lew 88: 5/19/2020 7:26:49 PMI think it's more healthy to just accept it and move on or pre-order. I'll be preordering. Bungie basically sunsets stuff anyways, this time it's not just a few items it's all of them. Kind of like when moving from armor 1.0 to 2.0 or moving from fixed rolls to random rolls on guns. A year with new stuff is plenty of time. Luna's howl, recluse and mountain top lasted about 9 months. Clever dragon about 1 year.

1 ReplyEdited by Toadpipe: 5/19/2020 10:59:24 PMWhy be sad? Bungie will give you back your stuff next go around. They will even, out of the kindness of their hearts, create new quests for the stuff they sunset. Just keep your eye on the prize.
making games is hard

throw money at the screen

2tokens and a blu
3 RepliesNot really true. As someone who used to work at Subway, I know a thing or two about how it works. Limited items were limited because they weren’t the kinds of things to hold attention for long. Making them limited helps get people to buy them. Think of it like Christmas. Yeah, it’s a great holiday, but having it every month instead of every year is a terrible idea. Like certain subs, I get bored of using the same gun for 3 years. I could use a new one, but why bother when it’s no better? And telling Bungie to “just make better weapons” is like telling Subway to just make better subs. Easier said than done, mate. Bungie could, but that would introduce power creep which is bad for the game in the long run. Subway could pack their sub meats with more fat to make them taste better, but like power creep, that’s bad for the business in the long run.

So you like and use vendor items from planets, year 1 gambit, Crucible and vanguard ect ? I mean some have already been removed and or never brought forward. Thought I'd miss my midnight couple, I don't, further more they end up nerfing anything fun or useful anyway. I'm not saying I agree with how they are doing it but it needs to be done in some manner, but as stated it really doesn't matter because anything new will just get a hard nerf and sunset by the player base. My "God" rolls have been good enough rolls for awhile now....

12 RepliesI’m sure Most of the best weapons and exotics will be connected to the season pass almost like a pay-to-win scheme. Now that you have NO WEAPONS and No ARMOR you will be more likely to buy the NEW AND BETTER content. That’s what they want and it’s clearly in the TWAB read between the lines of the corporate bs. they want MORE PEOPLE to BUY the new content because they CANT make GOOD OR INTERESTING content as a developer most likely because they are working on a NEW GAME NOT DESTINY. Destiny is on the back burner now for Bungie! they are focusing on another IP but want to squeeze the MAXIMUM AMOUNT OF PROFIT out of Destiny with the LEAST AMOUNT of Labor. They CLEARLY they are incapable of making creative or even working content, so they instead CREATE A NEED for you to BUY the new RESKINS/Shared Geometry armor and hide it under the best intentions. BS Customer: “I don’t need a pen” Seller: “But you need to write me a letter”

If they aren't prepared to do that, good luck to them. Grinding temporary god rolls? I'd rather take up crack Edit: I forgot my initial reason to comment. The analogy really isn't great

5 RepliesI'm not exactly for sunsetting, but man you're really -blam!-ing the point you're trying to make while the rest of us lose brain cells.

1 ReplyStop playing then and floof about somewhere!!

2 RepliesThe game’s too big, too flabby and repetitious. Hard to believe people are still doing stuff like escalation protocols for anything other than farming daily/weekly weapon bounties. Black armour anyone? Why? Stop adding more stuff (that’s basically the same as existing stuff) and calling it “expansion”. It’s not. Shadow keep was 10 minutes of story then back to the old grinderoo while the story suspended. I had actually forgotten about the bloody spaceship on collision course with Earth, just a truly epic repetitive grind sucked any interest out of it. I get that all this has to stay in D2 for new players but If I was just starting D2 I would probably get everything and wouldn’t even bother with the original story mode. Create Destiny 3 with a proper - long- story mode and refresh PVP. And for those who can’t let go of their D2 “stuff”, allow 10 of each weapon class (kinetic, energy, power) and armour to be carried over to claim after you complete the story. Most of the weapons, armour, vehicles are minor variations of each other. I saw a “new” dropship for sale in Eververse today, it was literally the body of an old ship with the wings of another old ship glued on. Tell me nobody paid money for that feeble effort.

7 RepliesYou win. This is the worst analogy I've seen to date on sunsetting.

1 ReplyYa...........you are completly not right.

24 RepliesThis single post just proves how inept you guys are at understanding anything that goes against what you deem to be acceptable. Your analogy is absolutely top notch on the elbow licking scale, it literally holds no weight at all in this situation, and the fact you think it does, just proves you have no idea why sunsetting is being implemented. Do you even understand the point in sunsetting? Or are you too caught up on how you won't be able to use the same gun for another 3 years? This community is just... just wow

4 RepliesNot seeing that they have been sunsetting since forever is like going to subway and actings like you didn't know the meat wasn't fresh.

1 ReplyQuit "floofing about".
jk
3 RepliesRetiring weapons and armor should be least of our worries.
-
Not going to fight you, I happen to agree. Sunsetting is nothing more than a top down, force-fed complete meta shift..., for no reason other than change. That being said, I’m not against it. My mindset has always been that I’ll play the game with what Bungie gives me. I do this every season, refusing to infuse until I’m at the soft cap, then my whole vault gets the treatment.
-
I’m all about the look, why don’t Bungie just retire the perks? Let me keep the frame and potential to infuse to whatever new light cap there is and farm for seasonal mods... That’s why I hate most of the newer armour and don’t use it. Those guns from Vex Offensive, or whatever it was called, they look horrible - not going to use them either, no matter how good the rolls were.
