The title says it all really, the mechanic is dumb and outright annoying, you give us shotguns with 1-2 punch, with thundercoil a few high damage melee builds across the different classes, supers that rwquire us to shoulder charge the boss or at least get within a small distance for them, then you say, eh sorry! you cant use that, get within 10 feet of the boss and you get sent to the next postal zone or better yet straight into "killed by the architects" land. Why is this in the game? so we don't melt the boss in 10 seconds? don't give us the means to do then.
Its a truly annoying on every level, who thought of this, better yet, who play tested it and then said, hey! what a great idea? if it cant be removed it should be toned down as if anything in the last few weeks it feels like it has been made even stronger.

Like the current nightfall. Got stomped into oblivion and I wasn’t even close to the boss.

Sword+passive guard=problem solved

If it bothers you that much don’t play the game.

35 RepliesA well-timed melee cancels stomp mechanic. Work on your timing. If they remove it, you can just run up and gut punch everything. I regularly use a sword this season, and stomp mechanic really isn’t an issue. This game has already become stupid easy, no sense in making it even more because you don’t want to get better.

THIS IS SPARRTTTAAAA

V21075 you make some valid points, and I agree that eververse must be removed from the game, but.. Whether we wanted it or not, we've stepped into a war with the Cabal on Mars. So let's get to taking out their command, one by one. Valus Ta'aurc. From what I can gather he commands the Siege Dancers from an Imperial Land Tank outside of Rubicon. He's well protected, but with the right team, we can punch through those defenses, take this beast out, and break their grip on Freehold ~ A tribute to ABrokenRecord. I miss that guy.

2 RepliesLol a servitor just a circular ball with no limbs whatsoever has a stomp ability. 😂

We appreciate your feedback, I will let the team know... your voice and opinion matter! We will take this information back, discuss it, mention it on a TWAB and then do nothing about it. -Bungie

Stomp mechanical in reckoning are joke
-
I think they just need to reduce the damage of each individual stomp. If Bungie changes it to kill in three hits instead of two, players would be able to do more close-range damage before having to pull back. I can understand that it's a frustrating mechanic, but if they took it out entirely then it'd be way too easy to take down a lot of bosses, especially in Gambit where sometimes only one team will have their Primeval up while the other is still trailing behind trying to spawn theirs. Tl;dr Removing the stomp mechanic from bosses entirely would make Gambit matches incredibly one-sided, but reducing the damage dealt by each stomp would be fine.

I admit it sucks. I kept trying to use tractor cannon and was only able to land one shot during the fight. I tried to get in within distance by land, sea and air. Only to be sent flying into the outworld of Mortal Combat by a stomp.

7 RepliesEdited by TheArtist: 4/18/2020 11:53:05 PMThe mechanic itself is fine. The problem is that its WAY overused....and Bungie changed the way they design content to make it SUPER-annoying and cheap effort at artificial difficulty. The stomp mechanic was present in D1. But it was ONLY used with strike/story bosses and raid bosses. So it was easily managed. You gave them a wide berth and stayed out of the way. But in D2, Bungie: 1. Made strike bosses much more mobile....so they are much harder to avoid. So you get stomped a lot more often. 2. Move to the stomp mechanic to MINI-bosses, Public event bosses, and Gambit bosses/mini-bosses. So you are now getting stomped in lot more of the game's activities. 3. Bungie changed their content design. So every boss fight now takes place in either an inescapble bowl.....or some sort of open-edged platform. Which means you are frequently getting knocked into walls....and dying. Or getting stomped off the edge of the play space....and falling to your death. Which is why people are FED UP with it. The strike in the Ascendant Realm where we have to go rescue that Awoken Tech Witch is a classic example. The last 1/3 of the strike is a running gun fight with the boss. But everywhere you are fighting her is an open ended platform. However she doesn't just stomp you when you are at melee range. She has the ability to basically stomp you/knock you around AT RANGE. ...and aboug 1 time out of three, she knocks you off the platform and its basically a OHK. A OHK that you are basically powerless to stop or really manage. So instead of coming off as "challenging"....the experience is randomly punishing and TILTING. You just get angry and frustrated. Stomp can stay. But Bungie needs to DRAMATICALLY reduce its presence in the game...and stop using it as a way to get cheap kills on players. It simply needs to be a knockback mechanic to push players back out to a distance where the boss can use its ranged attack.

Agreed. Not to mention the fact that there are increasingly mobile bosses and mini-bosses that possess such a thing. As a Hunter who likes to have fun with Way of the Wraith in PvE, it annoys me to think about how I can be severely punished for trying to apply Shattering Strike onto any sort of enemy with a stomp mechanic - even when I time my dodge.
-
He’s called a boss because of the stomp , anyone his people come to him wrong he stomp them out 😂
-
1 ReplyYou know you can just cancel the knockback by melee-ing right after they stomp right? This also doesn't solve the problem of the damage of the boss attack lol. It hardly matters that you get knocked back because most bosses straight kill you in 2-3 stomps anyways, if not outright one hits you with it in some cases. You'd have to remove the damage too, or drastically reduce it. If you did that, the game would be way too easy and bosses would be even bigger pushovers.
-
Yeah it’s definitely bugged, I’m getting stomped right out of Battlezone and in some cases it’s hitting me when I’m nowhere near it. How about Bungie give us stomp so we can stomp those -blam!-ers to death. Surely ballistic slam, fist of havoc slam and thunder-crash should have a similar effect.

1 ReplyWhy everyone says "bungo" rather than bungie. God thanks this season artifact has sword guard.no stomp
-
3 RepliesReduce their push back and some damage while on the Reckoning Bridge. There probably is a small percentage of players who has a threat level shotgun with trench barrel. While others has the one-two punch shotgun. I agree that this mechanic is ridiculous however this is Bungie. During the bridge on Reckoning, I do use threat level all the time while over players use useless weapons to defeat them. That casual players just plays the game and when those players get stomped across the map. They all leave while blame each player not having a good setup. Another option is have another mechanic besides stomp and hopefully won't be more ignoring.

The best part is when they made smgs the antibarrier mod. Like sure lemme go tickle this thing with my smgs while it stomps me into a wall.
-
Revenage for all the times we pushed atheon off the cliff.....

The stomp mechanic makes sense so we can’t swarm with swords. But, it should not launch me at Mach speed into a wall and kill me.
