With out the majority of players participating, the mode will wither and die.
Forbes even wrote about it and articulates the situation very well.

I welcome discussion, but will ignore the knuckle dragging “get good” response.
Thanks devs for your hard work!

1 ReplyI read that entire article and it is all facts. The one time Bungie doesn't "appeal to the casuals" I get destroyed by sweats because I'm not as good at PvP. But what am I supposed to do? It's not like there is anything new in PvE to do that is worth my time. The the seraph weapons and their perks are all terrible. SO i try to play trials and get destroyed 5-0 on my first game of my ticket against someone with 15 flawlesses. Side Question: Does anyone know any trustworthy places to get carried the the lighthouse? Im done trying.

Trials this week was ultra sweaty. I was getting stomped left and right, sniped to hell and back. I didn't know the angles, the callouts, the positioning at first BUT after dozens of matches and reset cards I feel like I got a lot better at crucible. It was hard at first and still super hard up to the flawless but it became smoother after a lot of practice. The hours put in to get to that point was probably not worth it especially you arent having fun. That's the problem, the time invested to rewards garnered for that effort was super mismatched. 300 tokens and the 15 packages that result from that dont seem worth it if you never actually go flawless or get to that tier of reward you want.

Last weekend a lot of people were farming 3 wins for a good shotgun role. The best change they could make would be after 1 loss don't pair up with anyone that's so far flawless. The matchmaking isn't terrible, but it could be improved a lot

17 RepliesTotally agree and I’m not surprised. Aztecross has some really good points in this video. https://youtu.be/HcA9qtdDohQ
-
I been saying, just put in a freelance mode for 3 and 5 wins.
-
I agree u have tryhards farming tokens the first 3 wins. Can’t do shit, bungie can’t u just go back to D1 trials like how hard is that?
-
We need more flawless incentives, more tokens from the Passage of Wealth for win streaks, and daily bounties that reward a weapon or armor piece. This will both limit win 1 farming and allow more of the casual playlist to take part in Trials without feeling like there's no way to progress. The casual playerbase is jsut as important, if not more important, than the elites. If they leave, Trials dies.
-
The top players aren’t having fun either. It’s like playing comp with less rewards.
-
1 ReplyTrials was always for the super players. I never understood why so many wanted it back. It was never meant for the regular players. It was always hardcore, why would they change the PVP endgame to be anything but the hardest possible mode. Oh, I quit PVP years ago, even still, I never would have gotten far in Trials. So this is not coming from a hardcore PVP player.
-
3 RepliesTrials was never meant for everyone. Although there’s cheaters and such multiple people have been flawless. If you aren’t good enough to get the wins you don’t deserve them period.
-
That dudes a melt but I cannea argue with what he said at all. They've -blam!-ed Trials.
-
I mean...it wasn't designed for the majority. It was designed for the sweaty no life sweats who live in crucible, and suck meta.
-
3 RepliesAs much as i agree forbes is one of the worst references you could use

When something causes an unhealthy state to me there is no question you get rid of it . Destiny has prided themselves on being a community game this does not condone what they preach either .
-
This hit the nail on the head. Pass this along to bungie.
-
I simply will not bother playing it. Without Regional Dedicated Host Servers, it's not worth the aggravation and inconsistent game play. Doesn't matter how good your internet is, your at the mercy of the worst person in the game.
-
Wish the author was on PC so he could also add the dodgy connections, disconnects, and cheating. But that’s getting plenty of exposure anyway on lots of streams. Could always use more though.

I have a 1.11 kd in trials this season. It could be a lot better, but my two friends I play with are a .41 and a .53. We have no chance because I'm constantly 1 on 3 against top tier players. Tassi is right. It needs to be more accessible for all skill levels.
-
Hopefully it dies

I linked the same article as a summary of my experience

I had a feeling this was going to happen, I feel both happy and sad. I feel happy because I told many players this would happen and they just blew me off, this is the perfect way to rub it in their face. It also makes me sad because I would rather the game was fun to play and trials was balanced in some way or another. Getting new sandboxes every new season is a joke and bungie sacrificing pinnacle/ritual weapons to focus on trials loot is also a joke. If this multimillion company cant fix really simple shit then I see no future for the game, maybe people were right and Activision was never really the problem. The small seasonal expansions we have gotten are nothing but recycled content and nothing worth playing for. I doubt anyone will be exited for the next season if bungie cant fix the current one

Wow, so true.

Forbes is kind of a joke.
