Community Game night discord being created.
I am currently building an Offtopic discord for Offtopic game nights.
Things that will be allowed in the discord; looking for groups for any game (so long as it isn’t an illegal game), ranking system, a separated area for roleplays (you’ll need to request to be let in as to not annoy other users), and voice comms so people can communicate for game night.
Some extra info on the ranking system:
You’ll start off as a Minor (duh).
If you play at a high skill level you’ll be awarded the rank of Spec Op (If you play at a REALLY high rank you’ll be granted a Zealot class). The requirements to get in will be arbitrary and vary from person to person.
If you keep a level head through conversations you’ll be granted to rank of Ultra. Stay at this rank for long enough and you’ll be given the rank of Field Marshal (which gives you the ability to ban users for repeated offenses).
A Major rank is basically the equivalent to a mentor here. It’s a user that has the general respect of the community but isn’t quite on the level of a mod/admin. They’ll have certain privileges not afforded to other ranks.
More ranks will likely be added soon but for now that’s what I’ve got.
What do you all think? Good idea? Bad idea? Would you join? Why or why not?

1 ReplyYou want to re evaluate Field Marshal depending on how it blows up. Speaking somewhat from experience: Rogue moderators can do a SHITLOAD of damage.

2 RepliesThe only issue i see is that i don't see actual merit being judged with all these ranks. You say that everybody starts out as a minor, but if everybody starts out as minor then who's giving out all these ranks? And what qualifies as a spec-ops? If i suck at one game but i'm pretty good at another do i qualify? Heck, if i suck at both games, but my buddy's an admin and can hand out ranks, do i still have a shot at getting the rank? And how inportant are these ranks anyway? Most of your post was explaining the rank system, but do they actually do anything besides the one that lets you ban others? Idk, i just get the feeling that it might turn into some sort of, as nil would put it, "circle jerk", where the guys with the biggest ranks (and therefore the biggest pps) just kinda roll over the whole thing. It's still a good idea tho

6 RepliesOk, I am not pissing on your idea here, so don't take offense, I just want to understand. If you are going to be in Discord anyways, why waste another minute here? Going from here to Discord kinda defeats the purpose of doing stuff [i]here[/i] & building a community [i]here[/i], in my opinion. Also, just to be clear, not hating, just trying to understand.
