Contradictory feedback. "I love grinding for RNG god rolls" vs "Do not retire my weapons Bungie".

You cannot have both. See you want more and more content, but all that happens is you guys grind for certain "god roll" weapons, and keep the rest in the vault. Why? What is the point of grinding for a weapon you will never use? The weapon retirement is so the weapons Bungie create aren't just going to be easy shards, or whatever, but actually have the potential to be used, the meta will constantly shift, the game will change constantly, and we will actually have that "ever evolving world". Using the same weapons forever is honestly boring, and it's obvious we can all adapt to meta changes. A good example is the "Riven Cheese" strategy, people always found a way to do it. From Rockets with cluster bombs to grenade launchers, heck even swords could be used. There have been so many methods to cheesing Riven, that it made the game fun again and again, right? Though the proper way of doing Riven is actually far more entertaining. On the subject of RNG and godroll grinding, how many people use Izanagi, Recluse, and Wendigo in every raid or most PVE activities? Or even use them in PVP? Uh hello those are not RNG weapons, yet you complain about weapon retirement of RNG god rolls? Those are legendary weapons, and they should all be expendable. Hmmm seems like your feedback is null and void, the Weapon Retirement is valid, it helps Destiny not become a cesspool of bugs like with the Izanagi quest, and the double reset 2 weeks in a row. This game is meant to be an MMO of sorts, a different obviously. They want an ever evolving world, but for that to happen, sandbox changes need to happen. And that usually means past quests might need deleting, or certain areas where you got certain weapons need to be taken away so a new area can be introduced. You want Europa? Say goodbye to Io, which means goodbye to Whisper, for example. This is the stuff Bungie needs to do, what they should have done in the first place, for us to get used to major sandbox changes. FOMO is a thing yes, but in the end, WoW is a super successful game, and has many major Sandbox changes, you miss out on loot if you never played a certain DLC or update, etc, and they do not regret it, why? Because it was a well established thing since the beginning. When you introduce this kind of system halfway through, people are more likely to rage against it. If it's already the norm, people are more interested in the story, and seeking out all the new stuff introduced. Therefore Weapon Retirement, and dare a say, major sandbox changes like the retirement of quests, patrol areas for new patrol areas, like remove Io for Europa for example, would be refreshing, and cause constant interest in the game. The more Bungie does this, the less likely we fear it, but embrace it. Also I want the full removal of RNG, since Pinnacles/Ritual weapons makes it all pointless anyway. Also I like the look of Season of the Worthy. Thanks Bungie for Destiny, it has it's ups and downs, but I believe from here we can only go up.

  • Bungie should have stuck to their ideals long ago. Now they're basically just taking the spoon from the babies hand. And baby is upset.

    • It's a satisfying feeling to have multiple god rolls in my stash that I can take out if the meta changes. What is "ever evolving" about this system? It's just literal powercreep. I've had both for years now so you have no point. Also are you actually believing Bungies advertising here? Let me remind you that this exact change goes against their "Freedom of charavter building" "True RPG" experience. Also they've said before that "We don't want you guns to become obsolete" and this does exactly that.

I think the biggest issue why folks feel the pain from end-game activity power progression being limited to new guns is the massive amount of time-investment it takes to get a godroll (around 99% chance you don't get one each time you roll a gun). And from that the gargantuan time investment folks already have put into their current guns. I don't necessarily think they should remove RNG rolls all together. But they should definetly give us tools to reduce the RNG in those rolls somehow, like the chalice did in menageria. That was a beginning for a brilliant concept that's since been apparently scrapped. If we had less RNG in the gun rolls, we'd be able to get them with less time investment and so it'd be a much better enviroment for continuously going after the new guns. I agree with most of what you said. Loot stagnancy / -oversaturation / new gun irrelevancy is a real issue bungo set themselves up with when they enabled all guns being viable forever with infusion.
