can someone explain the riven sword strategy? confused on something
with my grenade launcher, and celestial, i get over 1,000,000 damage. sometimes its as high as 1.2 million, other times its only 900,000. and i'll be in raids that people want to do the swords only that don't work. why is more damage less damage, when swords fail on occasion and i get half this damage? tried testing it multiple times last night with groups, and with my grenade launcher and their 5 swords, they'd get below 10,000 somehow, or below 100,000. with my whirlwind blade/relentless strike, i only get 600,000 at most.
been in groups where we pop celestial before swords, and beat her. but these kids now think you have to only use swords the whole time and will blame you for doing twice if not three times their damage for failing. so i get kicked for doing 3 times their damage.
but as far as i know. these people run tractor, and just tractor too, in a group of 5. of which the added damage to a basic grenade launcher strategy is far more harmful. because the damage buff isn't worth as much as the missed damage from the tractor user.
does having 6 swords do some glitch where it multiplies damage, but doesn't show it? like a hidden rat king effect?

a group i was in let me test it. it is a numbers bug. while 5 swords and my grenade strategy will work, its not as reliable due to added complications with players. its pretty idiot proof to just use the right sword and not even worry about a super before hand.

Edited by juicehead2004: 2/22/2020 6:26:29 PM1 Bubble dropped on Rivens foot- 1 Tractor Cannon 5 Swords with Whirlwind - Light attack, light attack, heavy attack .. use that combo over and over and it’ll never fail you. U can throw in a Well or radiance insde the bubble if u want in case Riven tries to bounce u once u destroy her. We never bother with supers at all, just a tractor and 5 swords and we never fail this strat. It’s easier than the rocket launcher cheese was

Edited by Cryptonomicron: 2/22/2020 6:22:11 PMThis is how we did it. Everyone uses a sword with whirlwind blade. You can pull an old one from collections if you have to. Better if you have a 2.0 sword with whirlwind blade that you can add boss spec. Best if you have one with impact masterwork. The important thing everyone must know is that whirlwind works with rapid consecutive swings. In other words, mash the right bumper. Do not use the right trigger at all. Step 1. Kill all ads. Step 2. Move to area where Riven's right claw will spawn. Step 3. As claw spawns in, titan places ward of dawn. Step 4. Everyone jumps in ward of dawn and mashes right bumper. Step 5. Move back to center and finsh Riven to access heart. No need for tractor canon, hammer strike or tether. Just follow the steps. The only area to be careful is the placement of the bubble. The titan has to be right up against Riven when it is placed so that Riven has one half of the bubble and the guardians have the other half. If the bubble is too far away, guardians will die from enviromental damage. If the titan is too close before Riven spawns, the titan will die when she spawns on him. So let Riven spawn in, run right up to her claw, place the bubble so that there is room for all guardians. Once you get that down, it's easy peasy.
