There is no answer to “fixing crucible”

The reason? Everyone wants something different. One group complains about shotguns, one group complains about erentil. One group complains about hunters, one group complains about titans. One group complains about SBMM, one group complains about server strength. One group complains about cheaters, one group complains about lagging. One group complains about ttk, one group complains about loot incentive. You see what I’m getting at here? No one can agree on anything. Everyone wants something different out of pvp. PERSONALLY, I can’t enjoy crucible because the game modes are all centered around the “team deathmatch” philosophy, and there are no enjoyable objective modes. For me personally, I can’t even be bothered with the typical crucible issues because I can’t even enjoy the game modes I’m playing. It seems like bungie has bitten off more than they can chew. The truth is, the crucible isn’t going to please everyone ever. The only thing they can do is find the best balance for everyone. So here’s my suggestion for changes that might get pvp closer to pleasing for a majority: * I’m going off the assumption that trials is coming back next season, so I will not include it in this list* - increase loot incentive by refreshing the crucible armor and weaponry and cosmetics at least twice a year, if not more often. - add a “triumph booklet” for crucible, where you unlock items as you rank up in pvp. - separate the pvp playlists into classic mix, competitive, and objective modes. - add some wacky objective game modes that mix things up and force players to play the objective rather than just farm kills for the win. - create an interesting 3v3v3 game mode for faction rallies where guardians can rep their faction and gain faction rep. Possibly a 3-team game of capture the flag. - frequently take community polls on hot topics in the crucible, as to better bridge the gap between developers and players.

  • Bungie refuses to listen to the players who dont spend money on their game. If you pay attention, when get matched against someone in pvp, it's players who pay for silver weekly against players who dont spend money... and they get a boost. Like, increased invisibility, their favorite hunters..? They get constant invisibility. Titans get constant over shield, and warlocks? They are the most immune. I'm just done.. everyone who is having trouble, please just stop playing. This is a setup in the game to get their top spending players to keep spending $1k's a month.

    • The biggest problem I see is balance there's basically only two viable weapon types I've seen so far and stasis That should be a starting point Making all weapons viable instead of just outright useless in most situations and removing stasis outright as a start Nerfing cooldowns in crucible might be worth something too that should quell most complaints if they actually do something like this

    • The answer has always been to separate PvP and PvE. That has been asked since the Suros Regime nerf 5 years ago. It's more complicated now tho. Not only do we need separate sandboxes, PC and console need to be separated as well. It's 2 different games.

I just want there to be better class balance. Just the fact that a majority of the PvP players are Hunters drives me bonkers. Like almost every game I play, easily there's at least 8 Hunters in the lobby. I can only take so much of shade stepping, moon jumping shotty apes before it's just not fun anymore.
in b4 lul git gud. Just use spare rations and Mindbender with Stomp3s Arcstrider like everyone else
The real problem is that Destiny started out a specific game with a specific style and then continually change it to different styles that attract different players. In D1 you could kill quickly but people weren't running around aping like they do now. Then D2 started and they slowed the fun fights down a lot with the double primary system. Now in Y3 there is a one hit kill weapon for every weapon slot and the ttk is 0. So one year it's halo, then another year its Halo 3, and then another year it's call of duty levels of quick kills and toxic "come at be bruh". Bungie needs to pick one and tell the players to -blam!-ing deal with it so the ones that don't like it can leave, except Bungie doesn't want them to leave because then who will they farm out to the sweats next season? Nah man, Bungie's terrible management, bad marketing, and screwing with basic game mechanics is why crucible won't ever get fixed. Fwiw, I was a D2Y1 fan. I like grueling gun fights with other guardians. Being picked off in 0 seconds by a one hit kill weapon isn't a shooter game, it's whack a mole and I'm not 5 so that's not interesting. Also, in a game that is SUPPOSED to be predominately PvE, adding even more incentive than they already have to funnel people into PvP is going to piss off way more people than their shit balancing ever will, especially since Bungie still doesn't have adequate player motivation to do any of its repetitive PvE content.

              • I know what you are trying to say OP, but IMO a lot of players fall into most of those groups and not just 1 group. I don't see it as complaining, so long as we make it constructive, then I see it as feed back. Whats lacking is feed back from Bungie. Tell us why they can't do certain things and why they can, give us some kind of lead times etc, although they do this occasionally. If a weapon needs adjusting plz stop adjusting it to the extreme that it becomes Vault fodder.... find the balance Bungie....

              • This game needs rent a servers. People hate x gun or y ability they could get their own and make up whatever rules they want. It sure beats nerfing the crap out of everything. Battlefield was great for having rent a servers. People that didn't like sniping, c4, rpgs, EOD bot or whatever banned people that used them, that is if the administrators were online.

You see what I’m getting at here?
The fact most people refuse to adopt a more objective metric for defining weapons as "OP", and Bungie listening to them (regardless of what Stats say) is the real problem. Everyone likes to claim "X is OP", but when asked to justify their reasoning for that being true, they just vomit a bunch of half-baked opinions that are sugarcoated with vague concepts such as "takes more skill to use" or "streamer X said so, therfore it's true" + a bunch of other logical fallacies. I understand weapon %usage and %kill Stats (available on multiple tracking webistes) aren't perfect for dictating weapon nerfs, but they are far less biased than people jumping on a Forum or making videos and claiming "X is OP because I think it is". The latest announced Fusion Nerf is a good example of how Nerfherders always win in this particular community, even though PvP is currently statistically overpopulated with Shotguns and Snipers... the only reason being tons of Erentil videos made by Shotgun/Sniper - maining streamers who obviously refuse to make some for (or even refuse to address) 0 Flinch Snipers and Shotguns with Quickdraw that are dominating PvP right now.

                  • A lot could be fixed. But yea, people live to complain. An issue I see with crucible is the quests. A lot revolves around crucible. And it’s a huge PITA when you’re constantly matched with a crap team v skilled players. (Or cheaters)? However I believe a brunt of the issue could be resolved by creating an alternate game mode. While keeping the rest, of course. After all who can complain when devs add a game mode instead of replacing one? (Joking) But seriously, the amount of complaints will be the lower percentage than if a mode was removed/replaced. What I feel like the game needs. -remove specials -remove exotic armor perks -remove heavy and special slot -shorten radar range or remove entirely -add option for same class fights (hunter v hunter) If you really want to. Remove any 1 shot kill abilities. While under the same mode. But an alternate selection like a blackout mode where you have no grenades, or melee ability. This removes the ability to 1 shot with shoulder charge, handheld, throwing knife. Just my thoughts. I’m sure plenty would agree.

                    • It's not truly competitive, they need to just let go a bit and make it about having fun. It can't be balanced, there's always going to be a meta, and with the lack of dedicated servers there's always going to be some level of cheating. I'm looking forward to see just how different Trials is, a lot of people are making the probably improper assumption that it's coming back the same way it was before. I think it's going to be a more "the majority can get there" but better people just take much less time type thing. That's basically what they did with freelance.

                      • The answer would be canned loadouts, everyone uses the same weapons and armor. But no one would like that either. The un-resolvable problem is that everyone wants what they use, armor and weapons, to be the meta or be the OP setup. When they get beat by something else, either because it is actually better or because they just aren't as skilled, then the nerf calls start happening.

                        • Agree with just about everything. At the end of the day, whatever changes bungie make down the line, will be met with same faux outrage as exists now. One certainty will always exist in any online pvp mode; people would much rather hold on to their inflated sense of their own skill and blame the game for their shortcomings rather than accept that maybe they made bad plays and decisions or were simply outplayed by better opponents. Furthermore, when trials drops, these forums will burn. Think this community is toxic now? HA!!!! we ain’t seen nothing yet.

I'm trying to finish my kimono quest and the last step is comp. My glory rank is literally ZERO. It's my first match in 2 season. I was matched up against a team that were 5,000+ each. We got completely wiped. Next match same thing. In 3 matches i havent got 1 kill and we get smoked. How TF is that even matchmaking?!

OP, you're dealing with fortnite-level stupidity here and anything you say falls mostly on deaf ears. Nobody wants to hear the truth. They just want weapon nerfs and they think that'll make pvp all better again, but we D1 vets know that's BS.

                              • It’s funny how many if the different issues you pointed out come from how overturned things are. How toning back special weapons strength and returning the meta to more primary play. Supers were tuned for bad players which lessens a reason to want to improve. Loot is a problem and everyone wants something different but one thing we can agree on is it doesn’t feel like bungie has a vision for what and where they want pvp to be. It’s hurting it more then it’s helping.
