Handheld Super Nova is crap compared to Throwing Knife.
A lot of ppl complain about HHSN, but as a hunter main, I can tell you that Throwing Knife is your friend. Keep your distance and keep the knives... once you get good with them, it's infinite cheese kills. HHSN is nothing. Knives kill close and far and headshot regens the knife.
I can say that Hunters have gotten all the good stuff from Bungie. I'd play Warlock or Titan more, but Hunters with almost infinite side step (invis) and knives (different subclasses... I know), deflecting super that can mitigate any damage and reflect most supers (it can even block Thundercrash).
Other classes need some love Bungie. Love my Hunter, but it would be good to play other classes more. I use them to get bounties done and then put them away.

Handheld takes a lot less effort for less reward(range). Neither one is more broken than the other. All classes have their own abilities and play styles.
