Let me start of by saying that I'm a veteran in the crusible and I play console. I played D1 but I quit just before rise of iron and I started playing shortly after the launch of Shadowkeep. I really enjoyed it at first but now I see a couple of major flaws. I still think Destiny 1 pvp was much better but I didn't know why until today.
Started off by getting the Ace of Spades to bring into the crucible because I enjoyed it in D1. First couple of games was really really easy because of the skill based matchmaking but I quickly hit a wall. People were getting sweaty and they had meta guns like Not Forgotten, Lunas, and some 180's. I just assumed these players were all veterans with amazing recoil control but after getting the Lunas and NF myself 2 weeks in I quickly realize their gun control wasn't good at all. The guns are just so damn easy to use.
After getting the NF I used it exclusively for the rest of my pvp adventures in D2. Recently I've been getting a couple of we ran out of medals and a 32/0 game. However... I've become incredibly bored of the NF and been looking around for other options. I've farmed a couple of Spare Rations and after using them I have cried on the forums and said that they are inconsistent and suck on console but they don't, it's just my gunskill that is so fkn low because I've used NF and Lunas and Trust exclusively until today when I met this amazing Thorn user that I kept matching in Rumble who plays sweats regularly.
I tried the Thorn and I was getting 1.50 kd games at it's best and even some negative kd ones. He was doing amazing with it but I truly sucked... That's because he is actually a good player and he opened my eyes and made me realise that my gunskill is pretty much non existent thanks to NF.
It also made me realise why me and many others fell in love with Destiny pvp to begin with, and it made me see whats missing from pvp in Destiny 2 and it's that drive to become better. The grind of mastering recoil and truly out playing opponents.
In D1 there was a huge skill gap between a handcannon and scouts/pulses. Anyone could pick up a Hawksaw, Seuros PDX, Grasp of Malice, Jade Rabbit or a Mida for example and do well. But you actually had to do alot of practice, learn how to counter recoil and build that gunskill up to be efficient with a handcannon. It took alot of practice but once you mastered it you felt like a god. You actually felt rewarded for getting good with a HC back then. This is why the handcannon range didn't really get tinkered with in Destiny 1 because the skill gap was so far apart.
I remeber when you could challange Snipers on maps like from the other side of the map on Widows Court, popular snipe spots like outside special ammo box on Black Shield from the other side if the map. It wasn't even a problem because you could only do it IF, you were good enough. It was hard to pull off and quite rare to get a 3 tap from that distance since the gun was extremely hard to control those ranges but again... IF you were good enough you would sometimes catch some noob out of position. And its that drive that's missing on console.
SOLOTION.
REWORK Lunas Howl and Not Forgotten/Crimson/180'S. Give them increased recoil so the skill gap for handcannons is increased overall and make ALL handcannons feel like a handcannon. Make them the way they're suppose to be. It's gonna give players like me a reality check and realise how trash we actually are. Let us put effort into getting good instead of turning us into a god because of these low skill weapons.
This way you can also revert the handcannon range nerf because they wont be as dominant as before.
HOWEVER it would instantly become a problem again on PC since they barely have any recoil at all but it's a easy fix for that as well.
INCREASE ALL recoil on PC (hand cannons in particular) to console values or even higher than that. Doesnt it makes sense to have high recoil on pc since it's way easier to control with a mouse?? Look at counterstrike for example. A big part what separarates a good player from a bad is recoil control. This would make the skill gap on pc higher as well and thus making the truly god tier players stand out from the crowd. Ladt but not least, handcannons wouldn't have to suffer silly range nerfs if the skill gap was increased on ALL platforms.

I think I just heard you say "nerf PC recoil" and "nerf 180 recoil" In return you want HC range nerfs undone. I play console too, but I know that nerfing recoil for pc isnt that easy. 180s right now aren't even a problem. NF and Luna's have some glitch type issue where they are not seeing the same falloff as other 150s. The fact that they use 180 recoil animation is the only thing that makes them feel like pinnacle weapons anymore, and spare rations is still a better gun. So your asking to nerf an entire platform, and all 180 recoil handcannons, in order to make one of the best guns in the game even better? What am I missing here?

recoil is the same at same fov, use controller on pc with max fov and ez aim assist with no recoil =)
