I'm aware of the ToS but taking a shot. My account was banned for having cheatengine running in the background. I am surprised I was perma ban. Hoping someone with authority can discuss this with me.

Your account was banned when we detected an application directly targeting the Destiny 2 game client that is capable of - and designed for - modifying the memory of other running processes. The data leading to your ban has been reviewed and validated. Your punishment will not be overturned. For more information on behavior that can lead to account bans visit https://bungie.net/bans

The only way you can get unbanned is if Bungie made a mistake.

Bungie states that having any programs matching the description of the categories on their Bans and Restrictions page can and will result in a permanent ban, even if you do not directly target the game with it. They do this to cover people that try to hide programs to cheat or programs that disguise themselves as inactive to grab game code. Cheat Engine is a commonly detected program, and they will never reverse it. If you decide to play again, make sure every single program that might fall under their Bans and Restrictions, really any program that isn't standard like Discord, web browsers, or Spotify, is completely closed

“Surprise ban does having cheat engine running in the background” Uh really? You should know that cheat engine would cause an issue in a multiplayer game. It’s your own fault and Bungie doesn’t need to take sympathy buy a new copy and start over

2 RepliesA few recently banned accounts. “Wrongfully banned. Please fix Bungie” Ban was upheld by BNGSecurity. “Sealed my account for no reason” Ban was upheld by BNGSecurity. “Banned for absolutely no reason” Ban was upheld by BNGSecurity. I could list so many. So, if you want to pursue your claim of innocence then you may end up with a very red face. Doing something once / 1 time does not lead to a restriction or ban unless you are using code injecting software or cheating in some way. Connection based restrictions or bans you are given a warning about your connection first before any restriction or ban is places. Bungie investigates accounts before they hand out any restrictions or bans. After investigating your account, they found a reason. They will not remove this restriction/ban. On the occasions they do respond, the answer will give a date and a very brief reason which will be one of the following below. 1. Cheating 2. Any software being detected by Destiny while it's running. These could include Trainers, Aimbots, Auto-fire, Mods, Graphics Hacks, anything that injects code into games. Also see Steam Service Agreement section 4. ONLINE CONDUCT, CHEATING AND ILLEGAL BEHAVIOR 3. An unstable connection is having an impact on other players. 2 RepliesWhy are you surprised. Cheat engine is a program created to allow players to well.......... Cheat in games and you had it active while playing a online only game which all activities interact with other players matchmade or not. Even if you did not intend to use it or use it just for other games means nothing. For the sake of other players cheaters ruin games for Bungie had no choice but to take action. Bungie warned everyone that having cheat programs, programs that interact with the game code or programs that are used in computer programming and can be used to create cheats will result in a ban. Your account is done for so either learn from your mistakes and create a new account and start again or walk away.
