just had the same issue I used my black forge key today after spending a very long time doing public events and strikes for the mold then doing the forge. Tried to insert it into the box and nothing happens it goes away and now the quest is stuck. They fixed one part only to have another part broken.
Bungie needs to fix this soon or make Xur sell Izanagis. Waited such a long time for this and its still broken.

Key eaten for me as well. It's annoying, it needs to be fixed, but I can understand that bug fixes can be a pain. If it takes abit longer for a fix it is what it is. What will be 100% unacceptable however, is if when a fix comes out, those of us that lost keys and in the process also lost the quest for the key mold, will have to either entirely redo that quest, or worse yet abandon mysterious box quest entirely and start over. That would be COMPLETELY unacceptable. So take the time you need to fix whats broken, but fix it properly and don't screw over people that dont scour every social media post before turning in every single quest.

The box ate my key as well. I have a rare bounty that I was saving for the quest that is about to expire. Hopefully they fix this soon and give our keys back
