"Obsidian Crystal Collected"

Consumed the Obsidian Crystal item for the Izanagi's Burden Quest. Nothing happened and the quest stayed the same. Is this supposed to be a bug or a feature?

This is annoying.. same thing happened to me... please tell me @bungie will just put the obsidian crystal back in our inventory/quest.
