Pinnacle rewards are horrible
So I did the 100k night nightfall and got a 951 scout rifle. Has this happened to anyone else? 1 light level above 950??

10 RepliesHere's the thing, pinnacles only drop +1 your overall power. So you need 8 +1s in perfect slots before you can get 952s.. Here's the kicker, there's not enough sources to get to 960 this season. The current highest light guy is 967 n he's 2 951 pieces lol.

Yeah this system was great until 900 with generous drops but because of the cap. After this it's really crappy rewards and very few now. Not too mention they all drop with low stat rolls. If those were better I might not be so irritated about the grind, but the fact I am grinding for sh*t gear makes it depressing. What was the purpose of 960 anyway? Why not 850? I hope they never raise power level ever again.

That is by design. You won't get a 952 until you have 951's in all 8 slots. Send Bungie a big "Thank" You for that one.

The problem is your gear level and the artifact power bonus.

Edited by declan shelby: 10/14/2019 11:03:51 AMyes true im all gear 950 and guns 950 and artifact level 12 so im 962 once reset hit pinnacle stuff dropping is 951 now 1 higher and their is no point doing weekly stuff anymore once u hit this cap as it and primes are capped to 950 so looks like log in and do 1 nightfall pinnacle and raid on each alt,looks like its going to be quick week for me. If this is what they intended with drops be less people playing soon why waste ur week getting drops that are no good to u The only reason im this level is off work with broken leg and my season pass is level 100 atm but i see alot of streamers who play 24/7 in same boat and to the person who replied to me "but u get engram drop every 5 levels past 100" jog off lol

Apparently All Pinacle drops are guarenteed to be 1 point above what you have equipped. That means 8 drops to go to 951 and 80 drops to go to 960. Not worth it, especially when the seasonal artifact can boost you over 960 with relative ease. Everyone can play the way they want, but I know I won't be chasing max light for the first time ever.

Exotics could use a power boost too. I've gotten several that are or 1-2 light below my level and their all random drops or powerful rewards.

Did you have another weapon at 950 in the same slot before you earned the pinnacle reward? If that's not the case and you're saying you were at 950 total power, just keep in mind that your artifact is adding to your power probably by a whole 10 points if you're already 950. I did my 100k run and got a Two-Tailed Fox and I remember it being at least 5 power above my other heavy weapons before I used it for infusion. Not every drop is the same, sure, but so far all of my pinnacle drops seem to have been pretty good.

Every pinnacle gear I’ve received has been just one light higher. Could take a lot longer to hit 960 than I thought but it is not really needed for much anyway (980 nightfalls can be completed already) and is more of a ‘flex’ if anything so making it difficult to obtain is fine by me.

Havent dohe 100k nf, but agree pinnacle power levels are weak and can drop under the level of whatever slot it goes in.

I did the weekly Ordeal completions, and got a weapon that was lower light than me. I got a 919 Edge Transit when I'm 921 I'm kind of wondering if I should hold off on participating in Iron Banner. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to get a full set of pinnacle gear before I'm even at 950

4 RepliesThat’s how it works. It’s 950-960 then only artifact levels you up. And hold on a dev, game has been out not even 2 weeks and you are mad you can’t hyper grind to 960?
