Menagerie isn't a competitive game mode. It's a false equivalency. Now, raids are different. I play plenty of raids and don't care at all about the gear drops. I just enjoy raids. But there are plenty who only raid for loot, Just as there are some people who play crucible for the fun and competition instead of for the gear alone. That's a better comparison. Menagerie was released broken, and once it was fixed, bungie realised people weren't playing it, so now it is how it is.

  • Thanks I was actually going to make the same comparison but decided not to in the end as it was too extreme, plus the point was not comparing competitive to competitive but general blokes mentality towards fun vs loot... but thanks for making my statement stronger. We are back to the same thing, will people be ok to remove all competitive rewards from raids, dungeons, etc then? and just give curated normal weapon rolls? I would say they will go bananas if they do so. And I am one of those who play things for fun and not for the rewards, specially once I had enough if I dont enjoy an activity I wont play it again but will challenge myself or play activities that I find enjoyable. Raids get boring very quickly and since I am a solo player I dont bother with them anymore, I mean, nowadays very few things keep me entertained if I do them over and over and over. Maybe its because I am getting old, it was a bit different in D1 tbh. I would go for flawless, solos, etc etc now I simply dont care anymore. Agree with menagerie, my point is that, back then when bungie nerf the drops people were saying "menagerie is now not fun" because they werent getting enough rewards, I was one of the few to point out that fun is not equal loot, but was quick to criticize . I personally find the menagerie quite repetitive, after a while it gets boring, modifiers are not very well thought IMO and stomp mechanics are just annoying, although not as bad as reckoning. And the point I was making with crucible is that sure some competitive players play competitive for fun, obviously they do since most of them got everything they wanted 2 seasons ago, so they just play to challenge themselves, but the point is that competitive PvP players have no end game rewards at all... PvE players have a lot of them, bear in mind that a lot of these PvP players do not touch PvE. So what do they got? the same thing over and over? and now the weapon that might shift the meta come only from PvE activities so they will be force to play them if it turns out one of those weapons becomes the new meta... not fair to them I think

  • It seems some of the good weapons come from the exp level rewards. So playing pvp alone will increase your exp level and thus get those rewards up to the max level 100. That’s the way I see it. Everyone saying the battle pass thing(rewards for each exp level reached)was bad I didn’t get. It seems perfect. You play what you want and as your exp level increases you get the same rewards. I hate pvp but did get the weapons from gambit but no way I was going to torture teammates in comp just to get recluse. But then I see people just shredding in pve with it all the time and am like wtf why do I have to do comp pvp to get a great pve weapon. And the other way too for you pvp only trying to get a god rolled hand cannon that is a pve reward. I really hope this is the beginning of that change so those in pvp trying to win don’t get players that are only there for Grenade kills (or any other task they decide to put in a quest ) and don’t care about winning.

  • I was asked what I'd do on another post. For crucible, I'd have kept trials of the nine and the lighthouse. The prestige worked well in d1, it wasn't outside of possibility for halfway decent teams, it was challenging, and the weapons didn't break the game. (Doctrine had its moments). No, don't remove rewards, just ease up on the pinnacles. It says a lot when a crucible pinnacle becomes the go to primary in pve FOR EVERYTHING. Nerfing all other weapon damage multipliers isn't the best way to apologise for their screw up, in my opinion.
