I know this topic is pretty old, but I wanted to remind people of a great way to farm for enhancement cores, mod components, and gunsmith materials... Simulation Seeds.
I did this yesterday to see how good the exchange rate was, and it was much better than I remember:
For 5500 legendary shards (buying 27.5k Simulation Seeds from the Spider for 500 Mercury packages), I received the following:
1. 3990 legendary shards
2. 500 legendary shaders (gives one legendary shard each)
(the first 2 items alone give a 82% return rate for your shards)
3. 2809 gunsmith materials
4. 120 enhancement cores
5. 62 mod components
6. 8 Year 1 Exotics
and some insignificant extras:
1. 11200 glimmer
2. 3 Polestar I Ghost Shells
3. 6 G-72 Classical Sepheid Sparrows
In summary, using this method, every 100 net legendary shards spent will yield about 12 enhancement cores, 6 mod components, and 292 gunsmith materials, and that's a great price!
I know not everyone has tens of thousands of legendary shards, but even a couple hundred will give enough to not feel completely broke at the start of Shadowkeep. I spent about 3.5 hours during my farm (including the time buying the Simulation Seeds and buying the packages), in my opinion, that's time well spent.
Happy farming!
