Do you need to purchase Desteny 2 on steam in order to play it if you do the transfer?
Link my blizzard account since i got the email about the changes coming in October 1 but it was never clear if i need to purchase destiny 2 in order to keep playing the game on steam.

This depends on what you currently own on Battle.net. Since you have linked your Battle.net to Steam, everything you own on Battle.net will transfer to Steam on Oct 1. If you wish to play Shadowkeep, however, that can only be purchased on Steam.
