Me, my daughter and son ALL use the same connection and play online on Destiny together just fine.
My son just got a perma PVP ban for unstable connex.
I am 51 years old, live in the UK, and have a darn good interent set up....
My son has spent hours on this account, spent money on it, and as we gamers know, put something of himself into the hobby we all love.
WHY has Bungie not addressed this pathetic system of banning, when the 'teleporting invisible titans with nova bomb' hacker types seem to get away with murder?....
Bungie, (you) have a 'no appeal' policy in place, and have so let down one of your most loyal (day one) fans.
Lord knows what lag switching hacker scumbags that (you) Bungie allow to continue with your 'reporting system' that no-one gets banned from (unless you get reported a gazillion times...)
Pathetic.
The fact is that Bungie has so many players (and the proportionate money they bring) now, that it doesn't have to give a hoot.
He spent his entire school summer break playing Destiny, working on his Guardian/account: For nothing.
Nice on Bungie.

4 RepliesYour son cheated. Perma bans are for cheating, not because of network issues.
-
Looks like it's time to teach your kid that if you cheat, you get punished and to deal with the consequences.
-
2 RepliesTemporary restrictions do apply to bad connections, not bans. Perma bans on the other hand has to do with cheating, so your child is not being fully transparent with you.
-
So your son either totally ignored this info:
Restrictions are placed manually on accounts that are deemed to be repeatedly ruining game experiences for others in PVP, or gambit. Restrictions will not be overturned until their duration has passed. Use this time to stabilise and improve your network connection so that you stop harming games for other players. The first restriction will last two weeks. If you do not fix your connection, the next will be two months. If you still persist in ruining the game for others, you will be permanently banned from PVP in Destiny 2. Please be considerate of others and work on fixing your connection, to avoid further repercussions.
Or he now falls under this info:
Bans are manually placed on accounts following account investigation that turns up behaviour that justifies the action being taken. These investigations can be started by multiple reports of cheating or otherwise disallowed behaviour over a long time period. Alternatively, bans may be placed after the Destiny 2 app on PC detects potential cheat software and flags it, sending data to Bungie - again requiring manual confirmation for a ban to be placed. In all seriousness, and with respect, Bungie has found reasonable evidence that you have broken the Destiny code of conduct in some way and been appropriately punished for it. There is no way to appeal a ban or have it overturned. Bungie does not discuss or revoke restrictions or bans.
Since it’s only a PVP ban, it’s either a permanent restriction or he was caught playing in a way that justified a PVP ban, and not a full account ban (though I’m unsure how this works, considering the processes for bans and Bungie’s zero tolerance policy)

2 RepliesEdited by Soupreem: 9/2/2019 12:55:49 AMIf you get immediately get perma banned, you were caught cheating. If it was 2 weeks, it's chronic lag. So your son was cheating, plain and simple, especially since you're in the UK.

Edited by TheArtist: 9/2/2019 4:32:42 PMSounds like your kid got caught cheating. Instead of showing up here and raging at Bungie, you need to sit your kid down and tell him that cheating by manipulating his internet connection is not acceptable. Bungie only bans accounts for cheating.
-
Ahh the joys of a dad defending the son who clearly got caught cheating.. Make this a good life lesson .. don’t cheat and ruin the experience for everyone else .
-
1. If it was actually for bad connection, there was a 2 week and 2 month restriction prior that were ignored. 2. If it was actually for bad connection and there are 3 of you on wifi, I look forward to seeing you back on here in a bit about yours and your daughter's bans. 3. If there were no restrictions, you are lying and there was cheating involved. I don't believe most of what you posted, but either way, good riddance.
-
Um you dont get permanently banned for bad connection. Unless he has been restricted a few times before getting banned then there's no reason a connection should result in a ban. Bans are due to cheating or doing something else like AFK macroing

You don't just get perms banned, he was warmed and most likely banned before this. And if it was straight up perms banned , your son or kids he played with were cheating. Just like you said bungie barely bans people, so when they do ban they overlooked at it.
-
You don’t get perms banned for bad connections unless he’s been a long term offender. And that’s very rare. Now a permanent ban for connection and two others in the household are not having that problem ... hate to tell you daddy he probably cheated or fireteamed up with cheaters and that’s what the ban is for . I’ve been playing destiny for years now on all sorts of connections good bad barely sustainable . Never except once did I get a restriction due to net quality. And I even played with a old ass iPhone still on the original hotspot from att ... Sorry man but it’s probably cheating ..
-
That's messed up man.

2 RepliesHonestly seems like you're son maybe isn't being 100% with you. I doubt you can get legitimately banned for your connection just being poor. I see teleporting people all the time, and as infuriating as it is, and as much as the person with stable connection should have shot priority, they can't exactly control it. Sounds like shenanigans going on.
-
3 RepliesWait, people actually get banned in this game? I've reported so many AFK botters in Gambit and they still resurface days later doing the exact same thing. Assuming this is real, I hope you somehow manage to get the ban lifted, as this is just unacceptable. It sounds more like them trying to avoid having to admit their netcode is probably one of the worst examples in history.

He spent his entire school summer break playing Destiny, working on his Guardian/account: For nothing.
That was true even before he was banned. What kind of parent are you?
-
1 ReplyIt’s easy in my eyes. Stick all the wi-fi casuals in a lobby and the steady connections allow them to play each other. Let the Germans play the Germans, the French play the French etc and let me play on even terms so I can actually enjoy a competitive damn game
-
3 RepliesDo you play at the same time using Wireless WiFi? Even with only one player, if you listen to music on Spotify or your wife streams on PC at the same time, you can easily start to lag. WiFi routers are not good on this unless they are very high end. If this is the case, you and your daughter may also lag. Bungie gives (to my understanding) warnings about lag before ban. If your son was banned immediately, it is something else. Does he play on PC? If yes - he might have software installed on PC that is the reason of the ban. Sorry that I can’t help further to find out the reason.

Get better internet, pops.

Edited by DUNNY1981: 8/31/2019 1:39:14 PMDid the kid tell you about this ban or did you repeatedly let him go in pvp even after getting warned about poor pvp connections in pvp. I had to get a power Ethernet connection when I had problems ages ago to fix the problem
-
3 people using the same connection all on Wifi? Well that is what is causing your issue. Destiny needs a very stable connection for PVP. He will have been lagging all over the place. Bungie investigates before they hand out restrictions and bans as they have too. Read this it will help. https://www.bungie.net/7_Destiny-Account-Restrictions-and-Banning-Policies/en/Help/Article/11929

Have a talk with your son and see if he's hanging out online with guys that alter the network. Your son is clearly doing something unusual, for him to be singled out by Bungie.
