How Is Nobody Talking About Console’s Horrible Loading Times? (Again)
The game’s loading times have gotten dramatically worse over the past months since that one update. Its super frustrating and easily takes away some of the fun.
EDIT: I’ve heard stuff about SSD’s improving loading times. As much as i don’t like how I feel like an SSD is so necessary for older gen consoles, I have started to consider getting one. If anyone could help me out with details on how they work, which ones work well, which ones are cheapest, etc., I would greatly appreciate it (I’m on xbox if that’s a necessary detail)

its only going to get worse. as the game evolves, your hardware gets older. if you want better loading times, upgrade your hardware. the game was fine when it was released. or, you could just wait for the next gen consoles, which are promoting faster load times.

2 RepliesUnfortunately this is more on the console end, install an SSD if you want to improve load times however the tech in consoles is actually really outdated and performance will continue to degrade as games advance. If you want the best performance you need to buy/build a PC.

this IS indeed an issue and i was baffled on how much my SSD improved that.. downside is now i have to wait untilt he rest of the fireteam loads in.. or else the enemies wont spawn.. pre "zero hour" patch i was able to clear the first encoutner before my teammates spawned in =D BUT.. i would not have bought a SSD if the HDD wasnt already showing signs of wear and tear and was about to break anyway,

Just put an ssd in my ps4 and it makes such a difference, wish I had done it months ago 👍

I load In strikes before other players and loading into planets takes less so. The tower is still shorter if I’m solo but it makes me wait to drop in with everyone at the same time if I’m in a FT. I could never go back to one without. Those old load times felt like an eternity. Glad those days are over. Best 90 bucks I ever spent. Edit* it also cuts down on the time it takes to bring up your character screen too. Changing weapons on the fly now! But I agree that you shouldn’t have to do this. Fact is it’s a lot of content on a very old game engine on very old consoles at the end of their life cycles. Truth be told it’s going to get even slower with Shadowkeep. We’ll just have to wait for the next Gen of consoles or build a PC.

4 RepliesYes, I appreciated it when it was taking 5-7 minutes to load, but since Cross Save hit I'm looking at upward of 10 minutes. What's strange is that I haven't even tried loading it on a different platform yet? Why am I surprised half of these comments are get a PC? Bringing D2 to PC has primed these threads with elitist toxicity. Pathetic consoles / horrible console processors / get a pc -_- Looking like SSD is the way forward for now, I'm sure they'll optimize it better moving forward.

the load times suck but I'd rather they created a lower graphic setting that locked the fps at 60fps

I pulled out the 2tb hd in my ps4 pro and replaced it with a 500gb ssd. Load times are much improved. Most of my other games are on a 4tb usb3 external hd.

I'm afraid devs are pushing us toward PC. lack of functionality is evident. No FoV slider. slow menus. lower than avg fps on console compared to other games, the recent push for cross save. all popular content creators have now made the change. join them or fall behind.

Which I know is a load of shit as I'm using my pc at the same time.

8 RepliesConsoles are not going to match the times you get on pc. They just don’t have the processing power, and many newer PCs have SSDs installed. This mainly a technological limitation of the consoles themselves which have always been underpowered.
