Pretty simple really, if I have to play Gambit, which can be fun when you’re with friends, I’m going to play regular Gambit.
Even as an Invader I really don’t like the over reliance on the Invader set for Prime and how it makes almost all the other sets irrelevant. But even then it’s not just one thing that kills Prime for me, it just feels less fun, more stressful, more like busywork and Oh so glitchy.
That’s not to say that I don’t find it fun *sometimes*, and I’ve never really had to question just playing one or the other til today when I read the Director’s Cut, with Luke Smith basically saying that they’re going to be collapsing Gambit into a single mode in the future. I think this is a mistake. Gambit and Gambit Prime have their own fans, neither is particularly well loved, and I’d argue Gambit Prime even less so because of the overall flop that was Season of the Drifter. Just keep them separate, please, the last thing I would suggest is walking back content you’ve already released and paid for by your players.

2 RepliesRegular Gambit: two invasions a round with multiple during Primeval. Has normal red bar enemies. Damage phases can be done from ANYWHERE. Prime: three invasions, with an invasion literally every time you ENTER A DAMAGE PHASE Almost every enemy is an orange or yellow bar MINIBOSS Damage phases are restricted to tiny pools and stacks incredibly slowly. Classic is way better. Coming from a guy who got Dredgen in Forsaken and currently has 6 infamy resets.

I will not play gambit if it’s only boring classic
-
all they have to do is increase the final invader timer to at least 90 seconds per invade. it's way to much at the end and can make matches last forever
-
1 ReplyI just ran 10 matches of gambit prime for the solstice gear and I didn't play a single game with anyone wearing prime gear. I like prime simply because it's so quick to play. -50 less motes to bank with the chance to steal the enemy teams motes -1-2 less primevals to fight -less adds during boss phases so you don't have to focus on getting shot from five different angles -less bullet-spongy envoys to get to the boss damaging phase faster (plus noobs can't waste heavy on the boss before getting a few stacks of primeval slayer)

4 RepliesIt'd be nice if we could just, not reduce the amount of content in the game. Why is it even necessary to consider removing one?
-
I don't play gambit... Get smart.
-
Nobody cares. At all.
-
1 ReplyI have played quite a lot of both types. Gambit is one of my favorite activities. If Bungie removes Classic, then I probably will not play Gambit at all. Prime matches take too long. I really dislike the mechanic whereby, if the team is away from the center of the map, they can lose a lot of motes in a short amount of time. It is one of the things that make Prime feel like busywork instead of fun. Almost no one wears any of the armor. The grind for the armor is quite an annoyance for something specialized. There is even less reason to get it now because all of our armor will be outmoded in October.

I would prefer the gameplay of Prime, minus the attachment of Reckoning to it. Reckoning, not that it's a bad mode ...its just not rewarding enough sharing a loot pool with another mode, just make it stand alone with it's own loot pool and adjusted drop rates....like POE. Put the current Reckoning gear into Gambit Prime where it all should have been in the first place.
-
And I will NOT play gambit if it’s original Gambit. Too long, Cheesy catch up mechanics And a broken Power Weapon economy.
-
Honestly I think prime should win, but remove armor sets and balance it accordingly. Or at least give me 1 round regular gambit.
-
I’m reversed. I hate normal gambit
-
Huh? Gambit prime is faster, making it so much better than normal gambit. It made me actually like habit again, the concept is really good it just needs some changes
-
4 RepliesGambit prime is faster
-
Gambit prime is trash but regular gambit is the dump site.
-
I play gambit prime but won't play it if it becomes normal game mode
-
I prefer classic as well.
-
Gambit Prime is simply more refined. Hmm, yes. 🍷
-
Truly hoping prime wins out. It's nice having an activity that's relatively quick.
-
3 RepliesI have to admit I like Prime better than regular. Mainly because it goes by faster. I did regular once for the powerful engram and thought it wasn't so bad then I remembered that was round one.
-
Cool story
-
I agree with you, I like regular Gambit. Simple game mode you can jump right into and not have to worry about set up or your specific job.
-
Have to disagree. Gambit Prime feels better and the boss fights are more strategic. I hate the feeling that you’re constantly being invaded if you’re in a bad Gambit match.
-
Prime is better and should be the one to stay however if it stays and normal goes the steps to get Dredgen has to change because its going to be hard to get that stuff done in prime.Sucks to lose stuff but I have a feeling escalation protocol is next on the chopping block and all this stuff is being done to shorten the size of the game. I hate the thought of this but I don't think even crucible is safe from getting nixed.
-
Well nobody will miss you. Prime is so much better than reg gambit I'm surprised that reg is still around. 3 rounds of afk bots or people intentionally trying to get 15 motes and dying. Not to mention purposefully getting primeval later to get a bigger damage bonus faster, letting the other team get your damage phase for you. SOOOO cheesy, so bad. Not to mention camping invader points in reg. I don't have invader on my characters most of the time in prime and I still do army of one's all the time. Just l2p really.

Prime is better but if it goes I'll play regardless because I like gambit. Sentry needs small tweaks but gambit isn't represented enough due to unpopular opinion which is whu honestly both could go and nobody but me and a small few would miss it.
