My age feels wrong
When I look in the mirror I see it; I'm 36 years old. For the last fifteen years life has been hard and it shows. Stress, skin burned by sun, bags under my eyes from my irregular sleeo cycle.
Yet....it all feels wrong. My age, obviously. I don't feel it. I feel like I'm still 25 and people around me who are only a few years older feel like they're....well....old. Is it really 2019? I thought it was 2007...or maybe 2010.
There doesn't seem to be any reason for this. It feels like the world is changing but I'm not.
Anyone else feel this way?

I know exactly how you feel. I always said I was 25 up into my early 40s. Now in my mid 40s I say my mind is 25, my body is mid 30s and my back is 60+

Time is a valuable thing. Watch it fly by as the pendulum swings. Watch it count down to the end of the day, the clock ticks life away. It's so unreal. But in the end it doesn't even matter.

8 RepliesYup. I am 41 going on 42 soon and some days I feel 25, some days I feel 65, but it always amazes me when I find grey in my beard and in my chest hair. I have to be concerned about what I eat and at what time I eat it. I have to take probiotics & Citrucil to stay regular. I fall asleep on the throne. I fall asleep while gaming, but if I want to take a nap, I can't get comfortable enough to.....wtf! I honestly don't give 2 shits how I look, so long as it is comfortable and I do not feel like I am melting. Cowboy boots and basketball shorts? Hell yeah! Easy to get them boots off, baby! I have enough pills that I am no longer really needing to eat breakfast. I have a damn pill box to seperate the morning and night pills. The doctor wants to play, "hide the camera" and I told him no chance in hell without dinner and a movie first!

8 RepliesThey say the 30s are the new 20s. I'm 37 and sometimes I feel like you said, mid twenties. But then there are times where I feel as frail as a 72 year old. In between I'm just me. My body has endured broken bones, fights, labor, sun, malnutrition, tobacco, alcohol, over eating, cuts, stress, and more. Every day requires work to get out of bed and its not getting easier. I'm just glad that I still have a head full of hair and no sign of any white ones, yet. 🤞

3 RepliesWelcome to getting old. Everyone has this image in their mind of themselves somewhere in their twenties. I still feel like I’m young even though I’m not. Also your sense of time goes totally whack when you get older. When you’re young, time seems to go really slowly. I remember as a kid thinking a year felt like a lifetime. Now it seems like the years just fly by. I still think the nineties was only a few years ago but it was almost twenty years ago now. Which is frightening.

After your frontal cortex matures, men generally all feel this way. Makes you think twice when you talk to white haired men. They’re still the same 25yo dude I am, mentally.

When I was a kid, I never realized that old people are still the same person they always were, just with aging bodies. I'm terrified of becoming old now.

I bought a Naruto T-Shirt yesterday, and somewhere in the back of my mind there was this voice saying “Dude, you are 40 years old, maybe you are a little too old to be wearing a Naruto T-Shirt”. Fortunately, I haven’t changed much physically as the years went by, and I can still pass for someone in their mid twenties ( although I do look very rough when I wake up first thing in the morning. Without a shower, a shave, and a lot of scrubbing, I do kind of look my age. There’s also a lot more salt than pepper in my facial hair these days ). And when I hang out with my friends, a lot of the conversation seems to revolve around gaming, or films, or comics, and comic book culture. I feel like my parents were having more ‘high brow’ conversations with their friends when they were my age.[/i]

I'm 20 but feel like I'm 87. The alcohol is probably not helping lol.
