I just got my wisdom teeth removed. Not the normal way where they just get pulled. They actually had to put me out and cut into my gums to remove them. I didn’t make any posts before hand because I didn’t think anyone would care, and honestly I didn’t care if anyone did. Plus there was already all those other posts about surgeries. I’m making this post now because I can’t really do anything else at the moment.
I’m still a bit groggy from the anesthesia, but I can’t fall back asleep. I’m a light sleeper. I can’t eat, drink, or even speak. My lips are numb and my mouth is full of blood and gauze. There’s not any pain, but there’s soreness and I’m sure it’s going to start hurting a lot once the anesthesia wears off.
This sucks. I feel horrible. I haven’t had any water since yesterday at 11:30 pm. I can’t drink now because, well look at the previous paragraph. I hope some Fire Emblem will help me. Do you guys have any tips for what I can do?
Edit: The bleeding stopped and I’m now able to eat and drink, but I still can’t feel my bottom lip
Edit 2: Instead of going through and thanking every one of you individually for wishing me well, I’ll just put it in an edit. Thanks everyone.

I thought surgery was the normal way.

Agreed, got mine removed at the end of May, the first day I figured it wasn’t so bad, the next two days were absolute hell and I lost twenty pounds over the first week because I barely ate anything

2 RepliesFeeling better?

The first 48 hours are the worst. The pain will lessen and you’ll start to feel noticeably better. Hang in there.

I thought most people had to get their wisdom teeth cut out? I did. But yeah, it's a miserable experience, hope you recover quickly.

Edited by dxmf: 8/11/2019 1:36:41 PMI don't have wisdom teeth, jaws are too short. But it hasn't been a bed a of roses (well, if you include the thorns it was). I've had around $12k in dental work done too.

Edited by ryanrob105: 8/11/2019 8:04:29 AMI'll probably need my wisdom teeth removed because my mouth is crowded and one is erupting. I started on braces but I couldn't tolerate the spacers ( thanks autism associated sensory issues) the orthodontist put in before the expander and I pulled out of it before even getting past the first step.

Also you can’t really eat much besides jello for about a week. After that things like soup become easier and less painful. No dairy tho and DONT USE STRAWS UNLESS YOU WANT ANOTHER SURGERY! Brush your teeth even though it sucks, and when you spit just let it drip out of your mouth unless you want another surgery and a lot of pain.

Ayyyyy welcome to the club! I got mine out a while back and boy oh boy...oh and I was awake while they did it

Tooth pain is the worst kind of pain.

6 RepliesI wish you a speedy recovery and as little pain as is possible! Stay away from straws and orange juice.

3 RepliesYou just have to tough out the first week. After the first week it gets a lot easier. AVOID DRY SOCKET AT ALL COSTS. Dry socket is an unbelievable nightmare.
-
That’s actually a normal way to get them out. They can still be pushing things around even if they haven’t broke the skin yet. I had to get 3 cut open and dug out, and the 4th just got yanked. You’ll be fine, just please make sure you take your meds and do your rinses
-
Geez man hope you get better soon

I went through this in January and I can gladly say that it went smoothly, and there was a swift end. That said, the first three days and nights were hellish. Eat lots of ice cream, take your meds, do what you can to prevent dry socket, and distract yourself. Good luck, and sleep well
