A simple explanation to Cross Save (maybe)
There are 4 Accounts and 4 Platforms. Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, and Google Stadia. Before Cross Save and Google Stadia, each Account is linked to their respective Platforms. Xbox One Account is linked to your Xbox One Platform, PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 4, and PC to PC.
When Cross Save is live, you can designate which Account you want to use on all 3 Platforms (4 when Stadia launches. For example, let's say I have 2 accounts: PlayStation 4 and PC (I actually DO). I then designate my PlayStation 4 Account to be my Active Account. That Account will be the only Account playable on any of the 4 Platforms. My PC Account will now be inaccessible unless I disable my PlayStation 4 Account as the Active Account.

2 RepliesHere's a related question that I can't find an answer: Can the linked accounts be played [i]at the same time[/i] without issue? Here's some background: I have a Destiny family that plays on Xbox. I main hunter, my oldest son mains warlock, and my youngest son mains titan, all three on the same Xbox account. We take turns. I also have a PC. Now say I designate my Xbox account for cross save. Can I play my hunter on PC and my son play warlock on Xbox on the [i]same[/i] cross-saved account without issue, cross-saving between the two? Or will a cross-saved account get "locked" when it's in use on one console, preventing it from being played on another console at the same time? Bonus question, out of curiosity: What would happen if, say, my hunter character, was played on two different consoles on linked accounts [i]at the same time[/i]? Would the cross-saves on each console overwrite each other? (And yes, I already know my sons and I can't play Destiny 2 with each other... that'd be cross-play not cross-save.)

8 RepliesChoosing a main account will not lock you out of the other. So choosing the ps4 account for example as main means it will be accesible on every other platform, while the other accounts are restricted to only their own platform. Fire up game on ps4 -> Ps4 account -> choose character. Fire up game on PC -> choose ps4/pc -> choose character from picked platform. At least thats how i understand the cross-save system, since it has a cooldown for choosing a main account.

I was coming here to ask for further clarification on this. I've read multiple articles and Bungie's own FAQ and they've all been absolutely obtuse and baffling. I hope it is as simple as you've laid out. Thank you.

What if I designate my Xbox account as my Active Account, (here me out), then as I've already preordered Shadowkeep on my Steam (PC) where will the rewards (such as emotes and preorder exclusives) go to? The PC one which I won't be using, or the new Active Account? And If it will go towards the Active account, will this be the same for me with the Forsaken Bundle I've purchased on battle.net when it transfers to steam? As I haven't redeemed any of the exclusive content for the bundle (Like the Ancient Bow skin). EDIT: I also understand that I will have access to all the DLC as I've bought them all again for PC (As thats where ill be playing from now on) I just want to know about the preorder Exclusive stuff as it seems very murky Thanks :)

Thank you! this clears everything up! ive play d2 since launch on my ps4 then decided to upgrade to a pc, weeks before shadowkeep was announced. So before it was announced i ended up buying everything all over again. The fact that i can just import my ps4 characters over saves me countless hours and days i dont have to go back and grind. Aug21 cant come soon enough.. cant wait to get back into destiny!
