I’m still in the green armor. But I’m going start loading up on bounties in preparation for that step with blue armor.

Me and my friend completed an entire set the day solstice came out. Yes its grindy but thats the point you have an entire month to do as many sets as you want. Deal with it

Then you might also be rethinking Shadowkeep. They’ve already said Shadowkeep is going to be more for the hardcore vs the casual. I really have a feeling this is the first taste of Shadowkeep grind with this armor. The grind isn’t bad at all in my honest opinion.

Eh, not too bad honestly. Some of it is mindless, and it’s annoying that EAZ Minibosses only count if you damage them (instead of counting all your fireteam kills). In the end, it’s not too bad as long as you do it smart. First thing I did is write up a list of what objectives were needed for each activity, decided which ones I could do simultaneously, and set out.

I’m surprised they made this event even grindier than last year’s solstice after the negative feedback they received on the iron banner quest. This is much worse IMO.

It’s way too grindy. It’s so much worse than D1. They need to back way off on the quest steps like “Kill 100 minibosses in the EAZ.” What the actual f$&k are they thinking? No one wants to do this. Way to ruin a brand new activity.

Exactly. 100 EAZ miniboss kills? 1500 orbs? ridiculous. The solstice armor model is "go spend hours doing doing the most boring activities while we incentivize you to play the boring activities in a way that's even less fun and while we incentivize players to work against each other" What I mean by this is: the green armor requires public event completions while the blue requires heroic public event completions so the people doing the green armor kill the public event boss too fast, which prevents the public event from going heroic which wastes your time. What a stupid, stupid, stupid design. I haven's touch once single activity I actually like this week because of this crap.

I sort of see where you're coming from. I was excited for some new filler content in-between season of opulence and shadowkeep, especially since I don't really like any of the armor I have on my hunter and wanted to change things up aesthetically, but honestly I'm a bit disappointed. The eaz is great, cool traversable map with at least some variance in the boss fights so you're not just doing the same goddamn thing over and over again. But the grind to unlock the armor is one of the most tedious things I've done in the game for a while. Don't get me wrong, the quest steps are pretty easy and we have plenty of time to do them. I don't really think the issue is so much with time as you say, I mean we have a whole-ass month and you really don't have to get them for all three characters. But some of the quest steps themselves are just mind-numbingly boring, like when I play destiny I want to spend my time playing game modes I actually enjoy, not just sitting around on my ass waiting for public events on Nessus to start. I thought bungie was moving in the right direction with quests like the thorn quest because they allowed players to actually choose something they like doing, and still earn progress for it. Bad JuJu was similar, there were plenty of viable ways to earn the materials you needed. Even the outbreak quest was fine, the scavenger hunt thing was fairly painless, and zero hour was a cool unique mission, almost being a reward in and of itself. But in comparison the solstice grind honestly seems like a step backward. Anything I need to do in the eaz I seem to get done a mere two or three runs, and after that the area is barely even relevant and I'm back to playing old content that I've already done hundreds of times, without even getting to choose to play the stuff I actually like.
