How do I counter Erentil?
Some of you say it isn't busted, so how do I counter it?

You wait for a nerf, honestly. Almost everyone who has given you advice on this thread has not played high-tier comp. Take their advice with a grain of salt. There’s no counter to a relatively decent player who crutches with a godroll Erentil.

Use a sniper. Erentil kills at sniper range (joke but lmao) but sniper doesn’t have charge time.

Get your own, you can get a guaranteed one from the Menagerie chest if you slot a blue fusion rifle rune in slot 1 and any blue rune in slot 2.

I've used Fusions on and off since D1 and I can tell you that good movement can make getting the kill much more difficult. The further away you are, the likelier you are to avoid death and kill them before they get a second shot off.

People who use it tend to use shots even if it's likely to miss. If I'm using a shotgun, find some cover at the end of their charge so they waste it, then close the gap in between their charges. A good user will back up so you will need to stay out of it's range. It's a [i]really[/i] good gun but I've countered many by dipping in/out of cover.

1 ReplyI absolutely hate Erentil, but here are my thoughts on counters. 1) Use a faster-charging Fusion Rifle. I have a Main Ingredient with Tap the Trigger, Under Pressure and 80+ Range, it's an absolute laser with minimal bolt spread. It won't be beating Erentil for range due to doing less per bolt, but close-to-mid it dominates. 2) Try Merciless. Seriously. It's by far the most underrated special weapon for PvP. It has the same charge time as an Erentil with Liquid Coils, does 49 per bolt, has 81 Range and 93 Stability with the Catalyst and Impetus - which acts as both Feeding Frenzy and a better Kill Clip (50% damage increase instead of 33%). With stats like that, it feels like it has Rangefinder and Under Pressure active permanently. I really cannot recommend it enough. 3) Play lanes and not corners. If you know someone on the other team has Erentil and is at least decent with it, expect them to wait around corners a lot. A key part of using a Fusion Rifle well is to lead the engagement, get the enemy into a good position with no cover that lets you charge up unchallenged and fire before they can do anything about it. See someone on radar around a corner, maybe hear a pre-charge? Don't go near them. There's a high likelihood they're in 3rd person view, seeing what you're doing. Simply don't challenge them, but don't divert your attention either. They may leave their hidey-hole in the thought that you're unaware, so they will be a careless in their approach. Punish them. Bit rambly, probably going to get called out by an Erentil user for spouting nonsense but who cares.

Use cover... listen so you can hear the pre-charge Jump as there about to fire ... loads of ways just the same as any other gun,just because it’s consistent doesn’t mean you have to whine about it everytime you get killed by it.

Play hunter and dodge on one of the arc subclass don’t know which one but I’ve seen a streamer do this effectively
