I'm already having a hard enough time getting the dust to buy the things I want from your decision to not include a proper seasonal engram. Now you're only going to compound that issue with Solstice.
You say every item is going to be able to be bought for bright dust, but almost if not all did make the round through Tess's rotation in previous events, so that can't be it. Is it really just you softly pushing us to buy more of that mistake called Silver?

Edited by Wheelaa1: 7/27/2019 12:29:26 PMGreed, greed, and yet more greed. Also, it is easier to reskin shiny things than make quality, engaging, replayable and enjoyable content. I bought D1 and D2 to shoot shit and become legend. This barbie dress sim trash is not what I signed up for.
-
Literally all they need to do is take away the duplicate drops from the engrams and everything is great, besides exotics but legendaries should not drop as dupes
-
Same reason there is no engram for this season just "best of year one" engram. They want you to buy everything with silver. This is why they are draining everyone's bright dust with tributes as well. Next season they are going to a "direct purchase" model which is good in some ways and bad in others. I don't think having a random reward for playing the game for a certain amount of time was a bad thing...but I think that is what they are getting rid of slowly. Next season you will be able to get bright dust but only from bounties and who knows how stingy or generous these bounties will be. Also if they only have a small rotating selection available for purchase with bright dust like they do now...this will also suck. That's just my opinion tho.

Bungie tryna burn our resources before shadowkeep
-
30 RepliesI pointed this out ASAP when people were praising the new Eververse. It was so clear that dust prices would skyrocket and silver would be mandatory if you wanted cosmetics. We went from earning everything through gameplay to it being impossible to earn much of anything. We’ll get 20 dust from bounties while a -blam!-ing glow will probably cost 10,000 dust to get all 3 sets. I honestly couldn’t believe suckers thought Bungie was doing something good.
-
14 RepliesRemember when eververse got an overhaul and started just emotes for silver? And that it wasn’t a big deal because it’s just emotes? This is where we’re at now And it will get worse because people foolishly continue to purchase silver. Each time saying it’s just cosmetic, not a big deal. That not a big deal is getting progressively bigger

20 RepliesEdited by Soul: 7/25/2019 10:10:24 PMI'm pretty miffed about this too. It's pretty obvious what the intent of the of tribute hall was - to strip as many players as possible of as much dust as possible, right before putting in an event that would (with zero warning, and contrary to previous events) would be funded by dust or silver only. I've seen loads of silly responses from people saying stuff like 'you should have waited for the discount to be higher' or 'you should have budgeted better' and these are the types that Bungee love because they are offering up excuses for why events can be cash grabs. Regardless of the discount amount, it's still clear that Bungee wanted people to spend dust right before this event. If they gave warning beforehand that this event was going to work like this, then maybe it wouldn't be so bad, but they didn't and it's a pretty shady move on thier part to pull that. The reality is that maybe some players do have loads of dust and won't give a hoot, but that's the minority and Bungee know most players will need to get thier wallets out if they want more than one or two event items. I'ts kind of funny as well because event engrams actualy encourage you to play the game more during the event. With those gone, I could go and buy all the stuff on day one, grind out my armor set and then forget about the game until the event ends, whereas if event engrams were in place I'd wnat to be playing more to farm them out. Let's even forget about the tribute hall for a second and pretend it never happened. Bungee acknowledged before about events being cash grabs and, as a result, introduced event engrams that offered an alternative choice to buying the items. Now they are going back on it and that this isn't an option. That is not a good thing and is not a good indication of the direction of the game. EDIT - I'd also like to add a bit more on the argument I've seen in many posts that live service games need this type of 'must buy' model. Destiny is NOT a free to play game. All the players in the game right now have bought the content. When Shadowkeep comes, only the older content will be free and that's in an effort to tempt new players in and get them to buy the new content. Eververse is not the only source of income Bungee has for the game. Yes, there's a place for eververse in Destiny, but that should only ever be as a convenience rather than the only realistic method of obtaining event gear.

2 RepliesI honestly don't get what it is with Bungie, it's like they can't add something onto what already exists and always has to subtract something in the process of adding on and this is a great example. In this case, instead of adding direct purchases with a seasonal engram along with best of year 1 engram, they instead just scrap the seasonal engram altogether (most likely to force people to purchase more silver as many have pointed out). On top of this they also hike the prices of bright dust and start requiring it to be used elsewhere. Every time I see issues like this I am just reminded of all the people that were claiming Bungie wouldn't do these types of things once they split from Activision and they would probably get rid of MT's altogether....those same people are now saying how this is a good thing and praising Bungie for it....

Edited by AAAbuser: 7/27/2019 2:02:35 PM
Why is there no Solstice event engram?
To make sure players spend their bright dust before Shadowkeep, it's supposed to be a currency sink. Same reason why we have this shameless Bad Juju bs quest, or why cores became part of infusion. Bungie gets a hard-on seeing our collected resources drop, their investment team is personified cancer. Or in other words: Zero respect for their customers paired with infinite greed.
-
52 RepliesIt's a shame how many people defend Bungie's poor actions. They are the reason this game has gotten worse in the last 2 years instead of actually improving the game getting it to move forward. I bet the streamers encouraged Bungie at the summit to keep making this game more and more and more of a grind then being a looter shooter as it used to be that rewarded gamers for their time spent playing the game. Hell, at this point they might as well go all out and sell the exotics. Why stop now and pretend this isn't what they are aiming for?
-
3 RepliesEdited by TwigTwig: 7/27/2019 4:16:58 PMI'm still in shock that people are only now figuring out just how greedy Bungie are as a company. It was discovered literally years ago that eververse was Bungie's idea, not Activisions. This is a full prices $60 game, with 2 $20 expansions, another $40 expansion, and another $40 expansion coming soon. Plus, $15 for a sparrow, $12 for a single exotic weapon skin, $5 for a legendary skin, $7 for a armor ornament. Mobile game Microtransactions in a full priced subscription game. Don't support their Microtransactions anymore.
-
Isn't the bright engram this season just filled with old items from year 1? Meaning for the past two months you've been getting and deleting duplicate drops? Besides, they said you can still but everything with silver or bright dust.
-
6 RepliesEdited by Smough: 7/26/2019 9:00:58 AMIt’s because people are too forgiving about the microtransactions in this game. So bungie is going to see how far they can push them on people before it turns into a battlefront 2 scenario. However with how easily people here seem to brush off the idea of microtransactions that scenario happening with d2 is unlikely. Plus it’ll be a good way to drain people of their bright dust before shadowkeep releases which will no doubt bring tons of new microtransactions. This is almost proven with how you have to dump quite a lot of bright dust into the tribute hall for certain tributes. Combined with how likely it is that there might be no engrams or the engrams will only contain items from older seasons and you see where this is heading.
-
12 RepliesThis is simple. People hate loot box style micro-transactions. Some games have been so bad it has gotten the attention from a couple of governments. One has already placed a ban, and legislation is pending in others. So bungie, as well as other developers are looking to change their micro-transaction system. A direct buy system is of course the easiest way to do it. I am sure most companies will have some way you can earn things from them in game. However since somewhat of the rng is going away, there would be a system that would increase the cost of the in game economy to aquire them. While most of us don't like microtransactions, I doubt they will be going away anytime soon.
-
I replied to a couple but: To all those that said Bungie needs to make money. Bungie would make plenty of money if they made a game that appeals to the majority and not just the elite few.
-
1 ReplyBecause now that they're an independent studio they don't have infinite funding from Activision, so they have to find ways to aquire funding.
-
2 Replieslooks like bad old activison cant be blamed so what do those do who did blame praise bungie even do bungie are the ones looking just a bad as activison hypocrites is a word that comes to mind bound to catch some good old toxic heat on this lovely forum for saying that

1 ReplyAtriark You make some valid points and i agree that eververse must be removed from this game but, Whether we wanted it or not, we've stepped into a war with the Cabal on Mars. So let's get to taking out their command, one by one. Valus Ta'aurc. From what I can gather, he commands the Siege Dancers from an Imperial Land Tank just outside of Rubicon. He's well protected, but with the right team, we can punch through those defenses, take this beast out, and break their grip on Freehold

2 RepliesEdited by DarkOverlord_9: 7/26/2019 1:15:08 PMWell, greed and slowly pushing scummy monetisation is what is going on. Unfortunately, it is working on some fools who remain, defending Bungie no matter what, but at 15 million players saw this garbage coming and moved on a long time ago, but the lowest of the low in terms of intelligence remain, defending their beloved multi-million dollar company to the death as they are being nickel-and-dimed. To the uninitiated, the attached video should open your eyes regarding what is really going on, and if it doesn’t, then nothing will; you’re beyond saving.
-
The event engrams cut into Bungie's bottom line for event items. So yeah, they're going to nyx them, and yeah it's going to piss people off.
-
1 ReplyBecause like it or not, loot boxes are getting the most scrutiny they have ever had recently. They will probably be made illegal world-wide within the next couple years. Bungie is obviously getting ahead of this. I understand the frustration with mtx's, but this is still a business, no different than a restaurant that charges extra per condiment mind you.
-
1 ReplyBecause they're greedy, pathetic scum bags who dont want you to be able to afford these new things without paying money. Because they know if we got double rewards, we would be able to stockpile dust, and not only max out the tribute hall dust tributes but prepare for Age of Triumph. Ya know, the only event they've ever done where Silver and Bright dust are the sole currency. Pathetically embarrassing, and exactly why so many developers have left this game. This was the plan. Then when they convince new monkeys to jump on during FTP release, they'll spend their money on microtransactions, and the quality will continue to plummet. This game is f*cked. The future will not be better. They've been given too many chances and have proven they are not sincere in anything they say.
