I don't understand why Trace Rifles use special ammo instead of primary ammo. I'm not going to use a Trace Rifle over a shotgun, fusion, sniper for a special weapon in any activity. The only time I use a Trace Rifle is when a bounty tells me to.
Would love to hear the reason for that decision

2 RepliesBecause it makes them different than Auto Rifles. They're actually really powerful though. You should try them.
-
1 ReplyTrace Rifles are very strange. They take special ammo, but they are benefited from Auto Rifle armor perks such as loader & dexterity. Scavengers don't work due to taking special ammo. Speaking of, I don't mind them taking special ammo. You still only need 3-4 bricks to go from empty to full reserves, like every other energy ammo weapon. As stated earlier, they're also more powerful than any primary, so it makes sense.
-
If they moved them to primary PC will have a field day with mapping people. Lets not have another laser show
-
Because they burn you in ridiculous speeds.
-
I used to use Trace Rifles a lot more often when they were primary weapons. Prometheus Lens was one of my favorite weapons. But they've fallen to the wayside since their change to being special weapons... I was just thinking about this earlier while using Coldheart for the Gunsmith bounties.

7 RepliesInstead of switching to primary, bungie could just buff them 🤷♂️
-
1.) trace rifles are in the special slot so it uses special ammo 2.) trace rifles are really strong
-
3 RepliesI miss the laser wars we had with Prometheus lens
-
13 RepliesDude it uses special ammo for a reason. Trace rifles shred if you know how to use em
-
2 RepliesTrace rifles are awesome. Soon some streamer or youtuber will realise it, make a video, other tubers copyimg that video and then everyone can agree :)
-
1 ReplyBecause they aren’t kinetic weapons.
-
2 RepliesWell, because they're energy weapons.
-
8 RepliesBecause they deal WAY more damage than primary ammo weapons. Up to 10x more.
-
1 ReplyTrace rifles are a niche weapon (that’s why there’s only 3 and they’re exotic). They excel in certain ways and don’t in others. So you won’t really use them most of the time unless you just enjoy the weapon. They use energy ammo because it fits the concept of an energy laser gun and because trace rifles push out a steady beam of constant damage which doesn’t really sound like a balanced primary.

3 RepliesAt first i thought you said taco rifles

Edited by Nell421: 7/21/2019 9:59:49 PMIf you have good aim they out-ttk most primaries, save maybe recluse w/master of arms. They have excellent range, low and manageable recoil, and an aim assist value of 100. Need I go on? Just because you don't like them doesn't mean they aren't good.

Coldheart is really good in gambit prime. Been using it while I grind for 21% Delirium
-
Even primary shot guns snipers and linear fusion use special in kinetic slot and there to powerful to be considered a kinetic primary
-
1 ReplyAnd here I am hoping for an Energy ammo LMG...
-
If it were primary there would be no reason to use anything else. It can melt very quickly in PvP.
-
4 RepliesWhy are linear fusions heavy?
-
Move Linear Fusions to special while we’re at it.
-
Think it was because bungie wanted to up their damage and thought it being a primary with easy access to ammo along with having a sniper would break the game. Honestky use to love my coldheart but now it collects dust in the vault because it's too annoying to try and maintain ammo if I want a range sniper to go with my beefed up auto rifle to have a good range assortment. Then in pvp its taking over half if not all my ammo to kill one guardian.
-
Cause bungie sux ass... Most the time I don't think they have a clue what the hell they r doing
-
2 Repliesthey’re extremely effective if you hit your crits.... which isn’t hard to do since they’re literally lasers. they could increase ammo on them but no damage buff is needed. I hear wavesplitter still kills extremely fast too. I can’t wait to farm with it when it comes to my platform.
-
2 RepliesHave you ever fought Wavesplitter? That thing is terrifying.
