Moral Dilemma #4
The reason this took so long is because I spent so much time working on it.
[spoiler]Totally not because I forgot about it...[/spoiler]
This is the best day of your life. First you have your first day of work at your dream job, and then you’ll have enough money to buy the coolest new video game as it comes out, today. Life can’t get better than this.
As you skip down the sidewalk on the way to your job humming merrily to yourself, you pass an alley. Out of curiosity, you peek in. To your horror, you see a woman being mugged by two thugs with baseball bats. You could get involved, risking injury and losing your own belongings, [i]and[/i] be late for work. On the other hand, you could just move along and forget about it. Just then your receive a phone call from your boss, “You’re late! If you’re not here in five minutes you’re fired!” You can see the building just barely a block away. What do you do?

I'd explain the situation to my boss, if he doesn't understand what does that say about my workplace? hangup and make a quick call to the police while watching the muggers. then involve myself and buy time for the police to arrive. I don't need to win, just outlast them, they also might run if they know police are on the way.

I approach the muggers. “Excuse me, m’lady, are these scoundrels causing you trouble?” I wink at her from beneath the rim of my pinstriped fedora, one eyebrow raised. She smiles back seductively as put my arm around her. I then unsheathe my cane sword. “I am a master of the blade, the likes of which you plebeians have never known.” I flash my Mensa member card and their very essence crumbles under the weight of my infinitely superior intellect, blood pouring out of every orifice of their bodies. The woman I saved then kisses me passionately over the corpses of my fallen foes. I make it back to work on time, where I get a promotion and a considerable raise. As I’m leaving work, I find the woman waiting for me outside of the office. I take her home, where we passionately make passionate love under the moonlight. I’m her first lover, and she tells me I’m the best at Smash Bros, lovemaking, and [i]the blade[/i], and I have the biggest dick in the entire world. We have seven children together. They all get accepted to very prestigious schools because they have their father’s unrivaled genius. I die, and every single person in the entire world weeps because they know that the nicest guy in the entire world is gone. and everyone in the store applauded

I say “It was going to happen eventually.” We bag him and lock him in a room, in which he’s chained down, with a phone just out of his reach. His boss calls him and says, “You’re late! If you’re not here in five minutes, you’re fired!” Or, I tell the muggers to go mug my boss after being fired.

Step 1: Become Dio Brando Step 2: shout “ZA WARUDO!!” Step 3: now that time has stopped for 9 seconds, smirk at the bandits Step 4: say “-blam!- -blam!- -blam!-” and disappear for about 7 seconds. Step 5: reappear out of nowhere with a massive steamroller and SMASH THE SHIT out of the bandits while screaming at the top of your lungs “ROOOADA ROLLLAH DAAAA!!!!” Step 6: once the bandits have been pinned underneath the steamroller, shout “MUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDA!” while you punch the shit out of the top of the steamroller, thus completely crushing them underneath Step 7: complete all this in 2 seconds Step 8: when time unfreezes, get the ladies number for a good time later Step 9: walk into work 10 minutes late, but stroll in like the -blam!-ing badass you know you are. Step 10: when your boss tells you you’re fired, turn your back to them and lean as far back as you can while muttering “Yare Yare daze...” and tipping your hat downwards Step 11: scream “MUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDA” while you furiously punch your ex boss into the next dimension Step 12: go home and call the number you got in step 8 Step 13: get laid Step 14: Find a new, better job Step 15: ??? I'd try to help her. As much as I hate people in the abstract, I don't think I could just ignore someone being beaten with a baseball bat in front of me.

Call the cops on the way to work? I feel guilty all the time, even about little stuff, so by calling the police or the ambulance I'd know that I at least tried to do something. That, or maybe scream that the woman is being mugged in secret, I don't know to be honest.

I would love to say that I would call the police and continue on to work, but I probably couldn’t stop myself from getting involved.

My dream job doesn't involve a boss or a workplace so I would obviously save the woman

I'd probably call the police first and then head to work. Realistically, i probably wouldn't be able to fight or scare off two muggers. If i tried to fight them, i'd probably end up dead alongside the woman.
