Anyone else think the Crucible needs an overhaul?

I say this because there is: - Poor spawns (Looking at you, Dead Cliffs) - Maps design that is super close-ranged (Even maps like the Citadel, Equinox, and Legion's Gulch have plenty of Close-Ranged spaces, so there aren't prevalent uses of long-range weapons) - Weapon Balance that is getting hard to defend, even for over 600 weapons (Scout rifles in general aren't seeing much of a use, seeing as how they gain no distinct advantage than say a pulse rifle or bow) - Lackluster rewards (The armor can't roll with enhanced perks, and the weapons are not optimal for the crucible's meta) - Matchmaking right now is.... Matchmaking... Sorry for shitting on what you guys spent literal years developing, even if i may be the only person who thinks this, but come on, we aren't even getting any communication from you guys, throw us a bone!

  • Just remove pvp finally. If it’s so popular why not spin it off to its own game. Because it’s not popular at all.

  • The problem is, most don't want balance, they want an advantage. Y1 D2 crucible is possibly the best balanced crucible has been, or will ever be. Any gun, could compete with any other gun, though there was the Urials/Mida meta, if you were good with pretty much any other gun, you could counter the meta. Too many of the top Destiny 1 players hated the balance. It made it so even a less skilled player could come out on top of an encounter with the better players. In all honesty, if Bungie would have just adjusted the TTK of all weapons, I think D2 Y1 could have worked. Making nades OHK would have helped as well. It would have made the team shooting a bit more risky, and would have broke teaming up enough so that it would not have been such a problem. I really wish they could/would add back an option to play Y1 crucible. It would be interesting to see which playlist would get more activity. It would also allow those that enjoyed the balance/primary first play, to enjoy the game again.

Whats killing crucible for me is the lack of primary gun fights, we have constant usage of abilities and one shot weapons and scavenger perks to the point no one uses a primary weapon anymore. Im Actually starting to miss how destiny 2 year 1 handled balance. It might have been slower paced but the balance was there, if players wanted close Range they would use submachine guns, if they wanted long range they would use scout rifles, if they wanted mid range they would use auto rifles. Even swords had more play back then. Im tired of the constant heavy ammo in crucible, its so annoying when players use heavy weapons and its more annoying when the damn thing keeps spawning. I loved how in destiny 1 heavy ammo would only drop once and it was during the half of the match where one time supers would shine since players loved to group up. I miss engaging with my primary, right now you can definitely use a primary but it has to be a handcannon since they have the lowest ttk in primaries.

      • Dont forget about the people that will leave during or as I just had just as the match starts. These people need to be banned from all forms of pvp for 24 hours whenever they leave a pvp activity and for the single person still there they should get some buff to help them deal with 6 other guardians till other people join the match.

yeah I think it does, im no expert but I think weapons in general need some fine adjustments. I know this is a game but a hand cannon for example shouldn't outgun rifles from a distance. Submachine guns should be more effective at close to medium ranges in general, auto rifles need a buff, and in general I think primary weapons need to be just as effective to force people to not rely so much on special weapons. like I get it, you grinded hard for that special weapon, but I just want weapons in general to have strengths and weaknesses and specific purposes. You want to play with hand cannons and side arms? then you better be superb at close quarters combat and be ready for when someone tries to kill you from far away. You want to be a sniper? then you better be good at aiming and be patient for that perfect shot, but prepared for when someone tries to rush you. You want to use an auto rifle, then you better control your shots, aim wisely and dont spray and pray everywhere, you have the advantage of killing effectively at most distances but you can be easily outgunned by certain weapons. All im saying is that as of now the crucible is ok but it needs some love.

      • I think all weapons by type/classification ( 1. Rifle Class, 2. Handcannon, 3. Shotgun 4. Heavy) should be even across the board. Of course close quarters it would only make sense a shotgun would be optimal ttk than an assault or pulse rifle. And power weapons should be more powerful. But I believe perks should also play an important roll. Taking that away would only ruin the grind with the folks who play pve for luck of the drop on a good crucible weapon. It’s a difficult fix. And I rarely play pvp. However, I’ve found with the right equipment combo geared towards crucible the pvp experience isn’t as bad. I think the issue is D2 wasn’t built around pvp but instead npc. So the pvp part will always be less balanced. In summary, I agree. But I see both sides.

      • The real problem is power spans every 40 seconds(7 seconds off the start) and special ammo. But until then I'm running a max range completley balanced backup plan Erentil which every special brick give 3 shots and my truth get 3 shots . So ya I camp heavy. With 8 recovery traction, longest lasting super, light reactor and 3 super mods.

      • Yeah, as I dived into Crucible (because game keeps flopping me over with general loot, either giving my duplicates, or... nearly diplicates), I notice more and more goofy stuff. People used to complain on Spectral Blades (or whatever). Yet even after nerf you could be spawned such a nice way any other super (bar one-shot) could nuke you again, even before you have chance to move. If you lucky - 3 times. That's basically spawnwipe and generally it is frowned upon. Matchmaking is... complicated. I do like that game now starts a match with incomplete rosters, instead of forcing you to wait on orbit or cancel matchmaking. Seriously, unless it's Competitive, playing 3vs4 or 4vs5 is kinda fun. Well, more entertaining, than sitting on orbit, waiting for players. Yet there is a problem - game still manages to match you with people clearly way above your skill. Like people having top tier Crucible weaponry, up to Not Forgotten. How the hell these people matched with bunch of players with literally zero Glory? Competitive brings incomplete and uneven teams to next level, because price of every player is too high. This, plus people leaving, whether willingly, or due to other reasons - this is also a problem that begs for solution. I'd say team that is shorthanded shouldn't punished for losing and every point they score should have multiplier to make it up for missing player. Though we played 3vs4 today and basically were spawn-teleporting from wipe to wipe. :D Weapon balance is apparently made to bungee's vision of "puwah phantasee", sadly it is Butt Stallion kind of fantasy. I understand some types of weapons needs to stay playable and enjoyable, but not at expense of the others. Simplest rework of armour/gear - enhanced perks added to pool and ability to forge those. While playing Crucible. Because as terrible as I am in Crucible (really, 0.3 k/d:D), after playing it, I don't really want to go back to PvE to get better gear, such as DC or Reekoning. Sorry for rant, just had my w/l doing at 1 to 6 pace. :D
