Whether it be Destiny 1 or 2, Auto Rifles are almost always in a bad spot with brief moments of being competitive. Meanwhile Hand Cannons and Pulse Rifles are almost always in a strong spot.
Why is the balance in this game so bias in favor of HCs and PRs?

Because Uriel took back their gift.

8 RepliesScouts have it the worst right now. No love at all.
-
4 RepliesUriel's Gift meta anyone?
-
1 ReplyWatch any streamer using an AR recently? They all prefer HC with insane range.
-
3 RepliesBecause Bungie prefers single shot weapons. The game is always tuned so automatic weapons kill faster than precision weapons on body shots, but precision weapons kill faster on head shots.

3 RepliesEdited by UncleObscene: 6/10/2019 6:22:33 AMThere have only been 3 times when Autos had a place in Destiny....and 3 nerfs that rendered them useless. 1. D1 Y1 ..Suros Regime. Bungie's first blanket nerf of Autos. The nerf lasted a long while until.... 2. Doctrine of Passing Trials auto put autos back on the map. Had two versions..regular after 5 wins and Lighthouse completion (pinnacle version). It was a HoF Auto laser beam that wreaked havoc in crucible for a while before being nerfed by bungie which ruined the Auto meta again until. 3. D2 Y1 when autos found there place again, only to be ruined again..... HC and Pulses have been the longest reigning metas in the Destiny franchise. Even though they catch the nerf bat regularly also...they seem to be the consistency. Heck, towards the end of D1...Sidearms found the meta spot for a minute in crucible when they nerfed special ammo drops. Bungie just cant seem to find a middle ground when dealing with adjustments to the sandboxes. Its either extreme left or right and has been this way since Destiny began.

I got age old bond and works ok in pvp but pve i tried it in menagerie and it really under performed, my ghost primus did a better job.
-
1 ReplyI find ARs to be solid in pve, weapons like breakneck or god rolled tigerspite.
-
6 RepliesBecause people like to sit in their circlejerk saying that autos are garbage low ceiling noob weapons and that hand cannons are the literal pinnacle of skill and deserve to be meta at all times no matter what.

2 RepliesEdited by Endless: 6/10/2019 5:03:29 PMDoctrine of Passing with braced frame. Used to own with that thing. I miss it.

Bc auto rifles are the easiest to use. We had a urials gift meta and it was awful. Autos should always have the highest ttk or recoil that makes it impossible to stay on target holding the trigger.
-
Because this game currently favors crit hits over anything else. Some autos are very good. Recoil is the biggest issue on console. So it is hard to be put in situations where hitting all crits is hard and therefor not hitting crits punishes the player. If they were to just bump up body damage on auto rifles.. the meta would be auto rifles just like in year one. But they are competitive if you have the right thumbs and reactionary play. As long as hand cannons exist, they will be favored. If you miss your shot, it is on you, but on an auto rifle, there is some rng at play due to the recoil and therefore lacking consistency for the go for its.
-
I remember when autos like suros regime were dominant. The only thing that ticked it was vex mythocast
-
3 RepliesThe very nature of an auto requires you to remain constantly exposed to deliver sustained damage and optimal ttk, while a HC can still deliver optimal ttk while dipping in and out of cover. It’s just the nature of how the different weapon types work, you can’t really peep-shoot an auto rifle like you can a HC, pulse or scout

Idk, suros regime is pretty good
-
1 ReplyCause Auto Rifles will never be allowed to be better than handcannons, and when they actually are, the Crutchcannon community calls for an immediate Nerf, Suros Regime Doctrine of Passing Uriel's Gift Vex Mythoclast RIP
-
1 ReplySo nerf fusion rifles ?
-
Duhhhhh...Because they aren't hand cannons.
-
They aren't terrible necessarily but could use some work. Destiny 2 Vanilla brought the power back to AR's but I think it was a tad overkill and did need the nerf. But Bungie could strike the perfect balance with D1 Age Of Triumph AR damage.
-
They were king at release. Now, they're just like a squire...
-
Auto rifles just lack the play making potential. Their ttk are quite competitive, nothing crazy but no entirely useless. They fall short when it comes to range and are then rivaled by pulses.
-
3 RepliesRemember suros Regime in d1 year1?
-
They were OP in D1 Y1 and 450 rpm were OP in D2 Y1. They’ve gotta come back eventually.
-
3 RepliesThey were meta for a whole year 0.o Plus they're the easiest to use and therefore have a low skill ceiling.
