Console loading times creeping up?
I honestly feel like with every update we get, the load times on console continue to go back up. It was great right after you guys fixed the coding, but it has slowly gotten worse. I play on a SSD so I know that it isn’t the system being slow. I saw in patch notes PC got optimized for issues with the game playing slower as time went on. Maybe console could get in on the love too?

Feels like that’s what’s happening. I upgraded from a 2014 Xbox to a 2018 Xbox one X that I play in 1080. A very noticeable difference in clarity (the fog effect is gone and objects are clear) but load times were lower as I would often be the first to load into a strike or now loading while in the tower moving to annex. Anyway my menu loadtimes were 1-3 seconds and maybe 5 the longest. Now it seems it’s 3-5 seconds and 7-8 the longest. Which is how long it took on my base Xbox.

For the love of god at least remove “Press X to start” just lead us to the character selection screen when we start the game.

D1's weren't this bad. I managed to load into Venus in less than 30 seconds.

4 RepliesSwitching to an SSD drive this weekend myself, also gonna replace that heat paste too. Thinking about piping a cold air vent to it as well, bet the wife would love that!!!

There might not be much they can do to optimize. Its common knowlege consoles were released this generation significanlty underpowered. Even giving it an SSD doesn't change the fact your consoles are limited in power.

I am PS4 and the load times are beyond ridiculous. I posted about this maybe 2 weeks ago. I asked if they could update us as they said they were looking into the console issue and we have heard nothing.

Yep, have noticed this too, particularly on the start screen, and also loading the items screen. Getting ridiculous

i have an internal ssd on my xbox and havent noticed loading getting longer but then again i dont play D2 as much as i used to. my other games load much faster than D2 though...

Even on my Xbox 1x that i bought only to get rid of loading screens is starting to get worse and even slower to complete

3 RepliesI'm running an SSD too so when I play solo in the normal world type activities in PvE load times feel fine. That said, playing in the crucible... dear lord it takes forever to load a match. When doing strikes, I get to stand around for what feels like two or three minutes waiting for the others to arrive (I should actually time it one day). Bungie really needs to figure it out, other games just aren't like this...

My wife sat beside me looking at the tv now and again and asked why I keep "flying that ship to nowhere" all the time. How to explain that…..

Loading in the player menu has also increased. When you try to change a weapon or subclass, for example, it is taking longer for the screen to populate.

3 RepliesI have an SSD and that has made a difference. That said its telling when I load up Witcher 3 and it is noticeably faster than D2. And its four years old. And has boobies in it. Just remembered .. Gotta go.

Their patches never did anything because at the same time they introduce a code to speed up the ui, the very same code is then amongst the mess that the 2 games have been coded as such and all new features/content that released at the same time then added more stuff for the processing to load and thus never actually reducing load times.

Yeah i noticed this also. Loading for pvp, gambit taking a long time. I played 5 mayhem matches last night with my buddy and 2 of them it was 2v6. He said it happened to him at least a dozen times yesterday. Not sure whats going on.
