It was fine before without cores being in infusion, why "fix" it by adding cores? It only creates problems, if people are leaving because of them, especially newer players, that is a problem that can't be overlooked, and one that can't happen in D3, AT ALL. Infusion has, and always has been, for the past 5(Technically 4, 5 if we want to include HoW cause that was when infusion was in it's infancy) years, nothing but a means of basic progression. Change them back to masterwork cores, and rework the masterwork system upon once reaching Tier 10 on weapons, or Tier 5 for armor, to change what attribute it is, I.E, handling to stability, recovery to mobility, etc.
We can say that it's fine as is then tell me, why is it when a new content drop, increasing our power level, we go through this time and time again? The forums being littered with the "remove cores from infusion" posts. I've been saying this is going to be a problem as far back as black armory, apparently I'm the crazy one. Why was Reddit up in arms in agreeance with the forums here? An issue literally playing out as I've foreseen. How? If shit looks like it's going to hit the fan, 9/10, it's going to hit the fan. It's not rocket science.

" It only creates problems" I do not think thats correct. The problem has arisen with the infusion into armour and the masterworking of armour. However, to answer the point - essentially enhancement cores are the equivalent of the motes of light (for infusion purposes). D1 had an abundant of sources for motes of light - in fact I cannot ever recall not having any. One of things that D2 needs to do is providing levelling up sources for enhancement cores. Levelled up a vendor - take 1 core. Ranked up in Strikes ( if this was a thing) - 5 cores Ranked up in Gambit - 5 Cores Ranked up in Crucible - 10 Cores Break down and exotic - 5 cores ( why this only give three/five shards + weapon parts is beyond me) Then similar to D1, D2 require something similar to exotic shards. That it used to masterwork only. The infusion system is not working and its because the system is confused with which way it should be operating. Its an easy fix in my mind

Edited by Raevenent: 4/9/2019 12:59:31 PMBecause we don't have those sources like you listed, it does create problems, lack of is just one major one. If I recall, motes of light had a similar role if not same as cores did for infusion, only, why wasn't there any complaints about them? You got them via filling out that exp bar, 5 of them, completing public events, faction packages, dismantling rare(sometimes) or legendary gear, and completing vanguard and crucible bounties, main thing is, you can earn them just by playing the game where as cores, you need to do very specific things to get even 1, 3 of those in spiders bounties aren't even worthwhile, wait and stand around how long for a wanted enemy show up only to get 1? When I can do 3 wanted lost sector bosses and get 3 in the time it takes just to do 1 wanted HVT, if not less. Had we have cores drop like motes did infusion wouldn't be a problem, there wouldn't be players strong arming the infusion costs, and actually use cores as they were intended. Infusion and masterworking. The only reason why I carry a bunch is to mitigate, more accurately, bypass the painpoint of infusion. The infusion system would be working if the sources for getting cores were akin to Motes of Light. Here's something they can do to fix the cores issue, one of which is already present in game. 5 per every obtained certain amount of EXP(Every bright engram basically) 1 from public events 1 from faction packages 1 from dismantling rare(sometimes, you can make them painfully rare here if you wanted, cause they're blues) and legendaries(Somewhat rare, but 50/50 on if you would get one or not). 1 from vanguard and crucible bounties. 5 per crucible and infamy sub level 10 for every reset on crucible or infamy I'm not saying they should have to make it like that set in stone but that would be an actual fix on a confused currency in the games economy. It's an exaggeration when I say this but that would be what many would call, a fix done over night. You wouldn't need to be doing specific things to get one, you would get them just as you did with motes, by playing the game, literally. Getting 7 from the clan milestone is a start, I'll give them that, but there needs to be more.

bud....I think we are both saying the same thing here. I do not disagree with anything you have said in your second point. I don't feel the problem is as big as everyone thinks it is. Its just needing tweaked as it is - but masterworking gear should be the part that is impactful - ie part of the end game. Finding armour/ weapons you like and masterworking. Infusion should be the means/ journey to that endgame. Right now, both are mixed up but as I say, I think its an easy fix. Thanks for your point.
